When so many are struggling for connection, inspiration and hope, Fantastic Fungi brings us together as interconnected creators of our world.

Fantastic Fungi, directed by Louie Schwartzberg, is a consciousness-shifting film that takes us on an immersive journey through time and scale into the magical earth beneath our feet, an underground network that can heal and save our planet. Through the eyes of renowned scientists and mycologists like Paul Stamets, best-selling authors Michael Pollan, Eugenia Bone, Andrew Weil and others, we become aware of the beauty, intelligence and solutions the fungi kingdom offers us in response to some of our most pressing medical, therapeutic, and environmental challenges.

Wow brah I see that you really like documentaries about drugs and fungi.:))

Dosed and Fantastic Fungi were in production at the same time as eachother and were released a week apart. I have not had many experiences myself with fungi, but am interested in the research being done concerning mental health and psychedelics.

Everyone should do mushrooms.

There used to be a store downtown that sold magic mushrooms. They still sell stuff like 70x concentrate salvia divinorum and amanita muscaria mushrooms. But according to Dosed, there are also lots of sitters/therapists in Canada that can provide psilocybin mushrooms. Definitely worth looking more into.

The dark web also has special sites set up to get legitimate synthetic DMT. Just have to know how to set up and use BitCoin...

I smoked Salvia and was convinced that because I couldn't see my hand, when I waved it around behind my head, that it was in someone's iphone.

I am not sure it has medicinal value, but it can certainly enhance the imagination!

This one was a good watch, if you are interested in these sorts of things. His episode on salvia was especially funny -- but the best one for me (because I knew so little about it) was on PCP or angel dust. How do y'all feel about spoiler alerts here? cuz there is a damn funny scene there but I don't wanna take the wind outta anybody's viewing sails...

Really good.

I liked the Peyote/Mescaline episode. That shaman who was 70 and looked 50 and just seemed like the most enlightened dude. That could be me one day :)

MUSHIE SEASON AND NO-ONE CAN GET OUT TO PICK EM.. NIGHTMARE!

Thankfully in my part of the world I can still go outside and explore nature. Definitely physical distancing there. But I certainly do not trust myself to pick the right mushrooms. I think the mushroom season is more around September here anyways...

this is more of a visual treat than a strictly informative docu about fungi. not to say I didn't like it.

thanks for the upload.

This took more than 5 years to complete! The cinematography and time lapse photography of mushrooms growing and all of the CGI is remarkable.

very remarkable indeed. but I wonder in one scene the lapse photography was not from a fixed point of view and it was moving the angle of camera and also lapsing, I wonder how do they do that!!

the camera must take few month to move that few inches!!!

IF this is just an overview, what is the 'best" of the best when it comes to practical, usable, informative and authoritatively authentic material on the subject? Just in book form, or any visual, educational docu-series that shines over all others?

Mushrooms, specifically, or psychedelics more broadly?

If psychedelics is on point:

For mushrooms specifically, perhaps Dennis McKenna is most authoritative, but in my view Hamilton Morris is more accessible:

Regarding how this topic intersects with culture:

Also: Charles Tart, "Altered States of Consciousness" as authoritative, accessible and pioneering
https://concen.org/content/charles-tart-books-articles-and-interviews-te...

This is a really good selection of multimedia available on the subject. I would also add the companion documentary to Dr. Rick Strassman's book 'DMT: The Spirit Molecule': https://concen.org/content/dmt-spirit-molecule-2010-0

Stanislav Grof's works are all very important. His recent 2-set encyclopedia 'The Way of the Psychonaut' and the documentary of the same name here are very dense on the subject of transpersonal psychology and psychedelics: https://concen.org/torrents?title_op=allwords&title=the+way+of+the+psych...

Terence McKenna had many ideas and theories relating to mushrooms and shamanism and had a theory about the evolution of human consciousness, culture and society that he elaborated in his book 'Food of the Gods': http://libgen.rs/book/index.php?md5=F2BDDF03EBA8F038CCAD424BB5FB8C24

And one of my favorite books about shamanism, edited by Jeremy Narby, goes through hundreds of years of anthropological data on reports of shamans and medicine men from across the world and shows a deepening understanding as years have gone by of the various spiritual modalities, such as trances and altered states of consciousness from the use of psychedelic and other psychoactive compounds. It's also interesting to see how all across human cultures, certain individuals evolve to have these shamanic traits and are always apprenticed to become the doctors of their groups. Our modern equivalent of this is our artists, musicians, doctors and other types that have this tendency latent within them. Shamans Through Time: http://libgen.rs/book/index.php?md5=BD86647DF4A29A6ED666A01F7E4BA046

Many I've seen or read already, but found a few new titles to check out.
leaning more toward the Grof alternatives to chemical/food based methods, but like to stay informed on all options.

Although Netflix is very mainstream and popular and some people are suspicious of its content, this documentary Fantastic Fungi has just recently been made available on Netflix worldwide. I am impressed that such a groundbreaking documentary will now be seen by millions of people. It is definitely worth a watch (and re-watch)...

Louie Schwartzberg is a pioneering artist who has filmed some stunning footage of mushrooms growing over the course of 40 years. WIRED goes behind-the-scenes with Louie to find out how these amazing time-lapses were made for Netflix's Fantastic Fungi

for shrooms, cactus, growing kits, musghroom truffles, ayahuasca kits and all sorts.. elephantos!
I use it fairly regularly

It used to be illegal to ship spores and such to california. some state law I think. you had to ship it to a neighbouring state P.O. box like nevada and drive to pick it up there. not an option for coast dwellers though.not sure about the law now.

I have heard that in parts of Canada you can now go into stores like in Vancouver and buy magic mushrooms. This is a recent thing though, since marijuana was legalized a couple years ago and there is a move to decriminalize all drugs now.

There was a drive by the city council to try to turn the red light district into an artst fartsy coffee house district.....
So.. hardly any coffee shops now and less hookers for those that like their hookers..lol

the only plus is that there are less of those annoying asshats trying to sell you shite "coca ecstasy, trips!" on the bridges and annoying the fuck out you.
but much MUCH less choise in the Netherlands now and a crackdown on ferigners(ie Germans and Belgians and oddly English) in border areas of the Netherlands.
Saw reports of loads of English people being fucked off and told they weren't allowed to buy.
I was in a couple of those places when i was over recently and I was fine but onklyhash and weed and only about 5 or 6 varieties of each.
no mushies, no cacti, no edibles no more
