War is a killer of some of our best and youngest men and women in America

Not all death from happens while deployed or at the hands of enemy troops. Sadly, because of their service's impact, many of our young heroes are dying at their own hands.

Forgotten Battalion follows the Second Battalion, Seventh Marine Regiment, one of the toughest and hardest hit during their tour in Afghanistan. In 2008, 1,200 members deployed to cover a territory the size of Oregon, engaging in heavy combat with insurgent elements with no air support and beyond supply lines due to military cutbacks, they routinely ran short on food, water, and ammunition.

Upon returning home, they soon discovered the horror of war and the challenges of surviving were not over. Their suicide rate is approximately four times the rate for other young vets and 14 times the average for most Americans.

there's an extremely high suicide rates amongst UK veterans. At least in the US you get something resembling decent treatment with the VA and the hospitals. scream all you want about how crap it is then look into what the Uk armed forces get.. which is to say FUCK ALL of anything resembling real support.. except by charities ..
Then you get all those back at home who know absolutely fuck all spweing their shite at you for this and that as if you are personally to blame for all governmental policy decisions and all the evils of the world while they shelter in the shadow of men and women who did what they are way to much of a fucking coward to even contemplate. they don't understand that there are many and varying reasons for joining. In my case it was to get my greasy mitts on that tasty photographic equipment without even realising that a wee venture into danger would happen.. yes I was that naive as many are when they join. that naivety doesn't last and when you get back there's no-one to "decompress" with or that actually gets it. so the pressure builds up inside and depending on how you deal with that darkness makes the difference between fighting on or giving up and taking the big sleep.
At 5 airborne it was, as the motto says "Ad Unum omnes" {All for one} but when you get out.. all that support from the men and women around you is gone and only comes back is dribs and drabs at reunions or small gatherings of old friends.
the Uk govt, no matter who is in, give zero fucks
