The Monkey Haters (2023)

#BBCEyeInvestigations exposes a dark online community of monkey haters who enjoy watching baby monkeys being abused, tortured and, sometimes, killed. We hunt down monkey owners and video operators who film thousands of monkey torture videos to be sold online.

Mini was taken from her mother in the forest in Indonesia when she was just days old to be sold to a YouTuber. She became a “celebrity” in a global monkey torture online ring. The people who wanted to do something to Mini, who were willing to pay to see her suffer, were on the other side of the world, in the US and the UK. BBC Eye went undercover to expose the perpetrators and find Mini.
