On Geraldo Rivera's Fox News program ("Geraldo at Large" ) on Sunday, 14 November 2010, there was an eight minute segment concerning the collapse of World Trade Centre "Building Seven" (otherwise known as the "Solomon building" - as reported in the now-famous BBC segment featuring Jane Standley which claimed that the building had collapsed some minutes before it actually did).

The Geraldo segment, which speaks for itself, is a bit misleading, in that there are repeated claims that 1300 architects and engineers have examined the evidence about the collapse of Building 7 and have come to the conclusion that the official story (or "official conspiracy theory" as some would have it) is false. This statement is a reference to architect Richard Gage's "Architects and Engineers for 9-11 Truth" organisation ( http://ae911truth.org/ ), which has only gotten somewhere around that number of architects and engineers to sign its petition, which calls for a new investigation, which is a very different matter!

Also important is the bit about explosives having been set in the building, which is only a theory about how the collapse was achieved. That conclusion is being promoted by AE911 Truth and others without conclusive evidence and argumentation having been provided. To say that the story given to the public (which I do agree with) is false is one thing - to be able to say anything about the specifics of what actually happened is quite another.

Whatever the case, this clip, aired on a network not known for journalistic integrity (despite its claims of being "fair and balanced" (and even trying (unsuccessfully) to lay claim to a trademark on that phrase)), seems very important. As Geraldo says, his attitude is changing, now that he has become aware that relatives of those killed on 11 September 2001, and engineering professionals are questioning the story of the U.S. government and calling for a new investigation.

P.S. I'd like to clarify the ambiguous statement above about the "official conspiracy theory." I meant to say that I agree with those who doubt the plausibility of the 19 Arab hijackers, if they existed, being solely responsible, or that the aircraft strikes and ensuing fires accounting for the building collapses makes any real sense. However, I don't feel we know enough about the whole matter to be able to come up with much more than speculation about what actually did happen.
