Newspaper and radio correspondent William L. Shirer's monumental work combining his pre-war experience in Berlin with secret Nazi documents later captured by the Allies. The large book--around 1,400 pages--contains both the history of the outbreak of WWII and the personal perspective of someone living and working in Nazi Germany.
This torrent contains two copies of the book.
The larger PDF file is constructed from scans of the original hardback with some basic character recognition for copy/paste. The text under the graphics is not proof read and contains recognition errors. The PDF file is not cropped and is ready for further editing.
The smaller PDF file is rendered from a TeX version of a later paperback edition of the book with a new Afterword by Shirer before his death. This text contains few errors, but also lacks the index in the first PDF. You can use the two copies to resolve almost any typo in either edition, and both are fully readable as-is.
Three small graphics files contain the hardback dustcover and the first paperack edition cover as well as the cover of the 30th anniversary paperback edition, which advertised Shirer's new afterword.
The back of the paperback contains the following text:
