The Prophet From Brooklyn (1994)

Nov 28 2001: WHERE WILL YOU BE? Will you be among the rich and powerful, saved from the end of all? Will you be a proven slave, kept alive to serve those in power? Or will you die with the rest of the ignorant masses? Demand your government throw open the doors of Nasa and show you the TRUTH!!!

Art Warp, the titular Prophet, pontificates from his study in Studio City, CA 1994 on dozens of topics, but all with a similar theme: the world is coming to an end, but those in power are going to escape in spaceships. His observations include:

•Everyone works for the space program in one way or another. The world’s space programs were designed to save people from the oncoming apocalypse by transporting them not only off the Earth but out of space entirely, into “C” – the space beyond space, a place beyond death.

•The Nasa channel is deliberately designed to be boring so that no one will watch it

•“The space program is a con job.”

•Why is god waiting for Armageddon? Because technology must reach a point where man can survive the cataclysm.

•The archeologists of the world are funded by Earth governments to uncover the “original plans” to escape our world

•This world is not about people, it’s about hardware that’s being molded into spaceships

Sure, it’s out there, but he was also way ahead of many others in his social thinking as well –

•Religion is there to keep folks ignorant

•Wars and crime are allowed to continue to keep the population down

•Wars are used as test beds for new technology (as well as fuels for the escape craft)

•The amazing part of living is that you’re going to die

However, after all the weirdness, there is a poignant moment near the end that damn near broke my heart. You should sit down and listen to this man, if nothing else because he is honest and earnest in his beliefs, a true American original like only we can make ‘em!
