This Week's Guests: Mickey Huff and Davida Finger
Mickey Huff is a California-based Professor of History at Diablo Valley College. A Lecturer in Sociology at Sonoma State University, and Instructor of Critical Thinking and Media Studies at Berkeley City College. He's also Interim Associate Director of Project Censored (PC), the media democracy advocacy group. It researches vital news stories that are "underreported, ignored, misrepresented, or censored by the US corporate media."
Each year, it ranks the top 25 and publishes them in its yearbook, "Censored: Media Democracy in Action." The latest "Censored 2009: The Top 25 Censored Stories of 2007 - 2008" is now out and available for purchase online and at project censored.org/store. PC's work will be discussed on the program.
Davida Finger is a Loyola University New Orleans College of Law Katrina Clinic staff attorney and part of Law Professor Bill Quigley's social justice legal team. It's involved in issues ranging from public housing, voting rights, the death penalty, a living wage, civil liberties, educational reform, constitutional rights and civil disobedience to get them.
New Orleans post-Katrina and Gustav will be discussed on the program.
