Thanks!

I watched the new Matrix film yesterday....the good news is that it does not totally suck! So, yay, for not ruining the series!
The bad news, of course, is that it is impossible to really improve upon what they did before, so it does not actually add much to the trilogy.

While we here on Concen talk about the red pill a fair bit, the neat thing about this latest film is that the Director starts by asking, What if Neo took the blue pill first, instead of the red one?

a positive review: https://www.indiewire.com/2021/12/the-matrix-resurrections-review-123468...

FYI there is one scene at the start of the film where the heroine falls from a roof. she slides down a neon hotel sign that says "Anderson"... that is just readable while watching it, but as she hits the bottom, a lower sign falls on her head. it is not possible to read that sign while watching. I had to pause and read it. it says, "for those who love to eat shit". no joke. the blue pill people prefer this food.

some intriguing scenes in it, particularly the first half of the film.

here you go:

That's great. I noticed the new film up on torrent sites and plan to watch it this weekend. Did you have the privilege of seeing it in a real theatre? Haven't been in one of those for a long time. Also, is it best to refresh on the original trilogy before watching this, or at least the original first film, or does it work as a standalone?

Good question! It would actually be worth it just to re-watch the ending of the last one, so you know where this new film picks up ("ressurects"). The new film includes enough scenes from the first film to make it not necessary to re-watch that one, though (but then again, I have re-watched the first one enough to be far more familiar with it than the others).

Yes, I actually saw this in a theater! I tried hard to get the Imax 3D option, but it was not available....had to settle for 4DX. I enjoyed seeing it on the big screen; it was the first film i've seen in a theater since covid took over the world...I mean the machines...oh, wait, what matrix am I in again?
