From the website:
There's only one way to conclude Hay House's year-long 20th Anniversary celebration as the international leader in inspirational and self-help publishing with a big bang! For the grand finale of our commemorative year, Hay House is proud to announce the debut of the first-ever film on the life and work of our much-loved founder, Louise L. Hay - You Can Heal Your Life: The Movie!
I've become so delighted with this project, Louise said about her film debut. I've noticed that women in the film industry who are 35 are usually too old to get a part. But I'm 80 and I'm doing my first movie . . . and I'm the star. It's very, very exciting.
There are few people we meet in our lifetime whose presence and effervescent spirit fills us instantly with an abundance of energy and love. Louise Hay is one of those rare people who radiates peace and seems to make time stand still. And when the prospect of a movie about her life and her work came to fruition, the unanimous response from all who have been touched by Louise's caring nature and generous desire to help others was It's about time!
It all started more than 30 years ago when Louise saw how people let illness and hurtful circumstances control their lives. She vowed to help them see that the root of their pain stemmed from their own negative thoughts. So, she sat down and wrote a little blue pamphlet where she described how our mental patterns and beliefs can actually contribute to illness in our body. She even listed various medical conditions, explained what thoughts correlated with them, and showed us that the way to heal our lives was just a positive thought away.
Louise had a simple message that she wanted to share: The body, like everything else in life, is a mirror of our inner thoughts and beliefs. Every cell within your body responds to every single thought you think and every word you speak.
Little did she know that this tiny blue book, which she incorporated into her second book You Can Heal Your Life would change the world and its way of thinking. You Can Heal Your Life, published in 1984, has been translated into 29 different languages, is available in more than 35 countries, and to date has sold more than 35 million copies around the world.
In the later decades of her life, Louise has touched hundreds of thousands of lives with her groundbreaking wisdom and her generous heart. Now, you can see this firsthand in You Can Heal Your Life: The Movie, which presents some of the most fascinating and memorable moments of Louise's life.
In this film, you learn about Louise's early days and the events that lead her to where she is today. You see, through personal interviews, how Louise teaches us to look within and heal ourselves. And you glimpse back to the time when Louise launched her successful book publishing company from a small bedroom in her home when she self-published her little blue book.
You also discover many things that you may not know about Louise - how she opened doors for women in the publishing business and the inspirational speaking circuit and how she broke barriers by reaching out to the men and women afflicted with AIDS during a time when much of the world left them behind.
You meet the woman who wakes up every day and proclaims her love for everyone and everything in her path, the woman who popularized affirmations, the woman who shakes hands with presidents, dignitaries, celebrities, and who always has an affectionate hug for fans who run up to her at a public appearance or Hay House event to thank her for saving my life. And when she embraces them, she'll insist, It wasn't me. It was you.
The best way to learn about Louise and the impact of her work is to listen to others describe the many ways she has helped shape their lives. Louise has been a profoundly positive influence in my life, and she is one of my greatest teachers, notes longtime Hay House author Doreen Virtue. Louise is one of the most powerful persons I have ever met, and I am truly blessed to have spent time with her. I'm so pleased that this movie will allow you the joy of spending time with Louise, too.
Best-selling author Gregg Braden adds, I was working as a defense systems computer engineer during the last years of the Cold War when I first read Louise's book, You Can Heal Your Life. It came to me at a turning point in my life and I found it so beautiful, so powerful, and so true. Through the simple elegance that's the hallmark of her work, Louise put words to my view of a life philosophy that includes compassionate self-healing. Now, 20 years later, I'm not only honored to be part of the Hay House family, but I'm blessed to know the woman who gives so much in the world, and who touched my life during such a pivotal time in such a special way.
A number of luminaries in the fields of self-help and health and spirituality and new thought - including Doreen Virtue, Gregg Braden, Wayne W. Dyer, Gay Hendricks, Esther and Jerry Hicks, Leon Nacson, Dr. Christiane Northrup, Dr. Candace B. Pert, Cheryl Richardson, Dr. Mona Lisa Schulz, and many others share their personal stories about Louise's impact on their lives in You Can Heal Your Life: The Movie.
It's an honor to be part of a film that celebrates the work of an amazing woman who has done so much for so many, says best-selling author and renowned life coach Cheryl Richardson. Louise is a bright light whose wisdom started me on my journey of awakening. It's exciting to think that even more people will be blessed with her message of hope and strength.
How does one put into words the effect Louise L. Hay has had on one's life? To do the subject justice, a book the size of The Complete Works of Shakespeare wouldn't be enough, adds author Leon Nacson, who also heads up Hay House's Australia office. Louise has demonstrated that words have power, and that power should not be misused or abused.
One of my earliest recollections of a mistake I made which I've never repeated is I said to Louise, Why don't we do this, and that way we'll kill two birds with one stone? Louise replied, Why would you want to kill two innocent, beautiful birds?
In that moment I suddenly realized two things: 1: Louise really walks her talk and 2: She's right. Why would I want to harm my favorite animals?
To be included in the You Can Heal Your Life movie is so exciting because it feels like making a family movie. The book has been part of my life as a publisher, colleague and facilitator for almost 20 years. To be part of this evolution of the message feels like a natural progression, Leon continues. Louise trusted me and my family with her very good name in Australia and New Zealand. That trust honors us every moment of our lives.
Leading women's health expert Dr. Christiane Northrup was also eager to share her experience: I recently had the opportunity to take part in this film about Louise Hay one of my genuine, longtime, ravishingly alive heroines! Imagine the impact that Louise made on me with her first little blue book: Heal Your Body - The Mental Causes of Physical Disease and the Metaphysical Way to Overcome Them.
I used to keep that book hidden away in my desk drawer when I started my medical practice, Dr. Northrup adds. Though I;m well-trained in Western medicine, I knew that Louise (a high school dropout, no less) knew more about health and wellness than I did! From that time on, Louise has been a shining beacon of fun, hope, and health. Louise is a trailblazing goddess whose vision continues to uplift and inspire me - and millions of others - each and every day!
One of the most interesting aspects of filming You Can Heal Your Life, The Movie is the impact that Louise had on the lives of film director Michael Goorjian and crew. One of the things that was so interesting to me was that Michael and the film crew knew nothing about this way of thinking or this way of approaching life. We spent several hours during the first few shoots at my house where I was talking about my work. And I know at the end of the day, they were saying something like, Well, she's a nice old lady, but she's crazy! Louise recalled with a laugh.
And I remember one of the last nights of the shoot in Las Vegas, the film crew got together after dinner and talked for four hours about my work. My thought is now they're in editing and they get to go over it over and over again. And I know that we changed the lives of that film crew. They will not be the same people.
Here's how Hay House author and cofounder of The Spiritual Cinema Gay Hendricks explains it. (Gay was also instrumental in helping put this film together.) When I began making movies, I decided I would only work on projects that went beyond entertainment to become vehicles of positive life-change for people. Making a movie based on You Can Heal Your Life, which has been a beacon of inspiration, hope and healing for millions of people, is a dream come true for me. The miracle of this movie began almost from the day we started shooting it. Members of the crew - many of whom are new to the concept that changing your thoughts can change your life - have already experienced profound, positive changes in their lives just from working on the project. This is truly a movie that changes lives.
You Can Heal Your Life: The Movie, which is hosted by Louise, offers not only an intimate look into her moving and inspirational life story, but also a special segment devoted to helping you apply Louise's affirmations and groundbreaking wisdom to heal your own life and the challenges that you face today.
This movie is the story of my life, my teachings and how I've applied the principles of my teachings to my own life, Louise explains. I've made enormous changes in my own life that I had no idea would be possible.
When asked what message she hoped people would take with them after seeing You Can Heal Your Life: The Movie, Louise said, I'd like to see them discover what they can really do for themselves. People are so hungry to learn how to take control of their lives.
Many thanks to each of you who continue to embrace and support Louise's wisdom. Let's affirm that You Can Heal Your Life: The Movie will reach hundreds of thousands more people in every corner of the world so they, too, can learn to heal their lives.
