great rip bro! thanks! the only suggestion I can give you is instead of doing 2pass encoding, do CRF21.5. it encodes slightly faster and the quality to size ratio is the same. it will determine the bitrate on its own on the basis of the content's motion and detail.

Thanks, yes I learned to encode videos using a program called Avidemux because it has filters for cleaning up older videos and resizing them etc. Years ago I used to encode videos using Xvid .avi, because that was the norm way back then. But recently am using the x264 .mkv format. I will definitely look into this CRF21.5 - I am not sure if Avidemux does that or not. What program do you use again, I think you have told me in PM before.
