Sharing the Cartoon History of the Universe by American cartoonist, professor, and mathematician Larry Gonick. There are three volumes of this but I have not found the third one in digital format.

He did a two-volume cartoon guide on the modern world but I can only find Part 1.

He did a cartoon guide to the US. I have found two versions and I'm sharing them both.

I am also sharing his other general works because I am obsessive-compulsive Sigh.

Regarding the Cartoon History, each book in the series explains a period of world history in a loosely chronological order. Though originally published as a comic book series (19 separate issues), the series is now published in three volumes of several hundred pages each. The final volume covers history from the late 18th century to early 2008. The final two volumes, published in 2007 and 2009, are named The Cartoon History of the Modern World volumes one and two.

Volume 1 contains the first 9 issues:

  • 2: Sticks and Stones - The Descent of People
  • 3: River Realms - Sumer & Egypt, 5000 - 1200 BC
  • 4: Part of the Old Testament - 1400 - 586 BC
  • 5: Brains an Bronze - The Rise of Ancient Greece
  • 6: "Who are these Athenians?" - 590 - 279 BC
  • 7: All About Athens - A Great Civilization in a Small Town Without Plumbing

Volume 2 contains the next 6 issues:

  • 8: Is Everything Sacred? India, 2500 - 200 BC
  • 9: Family Matters - China, 5000 - 246 BC
