JOHN TRUDELL - PERCEPTIONS OF REALITY
As part of the 2009-2010 Native Pride Lecture Series the UW Whitewater Native American Cultural Awareness Association (Nigetakiya.com) brought John Trudell to speak on campus. The title of his lecture was "Perceptions of Reality"
POEMS? WHAT'S WITH THE POEMS? I DON'T COME TO CONCEN TO DOWNLOAD BLOODY POEMS!
Relax. Give him ten minutes...
I love John Trudell. Such a unique mix of awesome Native American wisdom, sensitivity, humor and yes, poetry, from time to time.
Sometimes I hear him speak and I hear nothing. Maybe it'll be like that for you this time.
Other times though, I can barely breathe for fear I might break the spell, such does the exceptional wisdom of this guy sear into my heart & mind.
I'm not sure this is the 'best' talk I've seen John deliver, but it's one of the nicer quality ones I have and it seems to me that he covers most of the major talking points you'll find elsewhere in his other talks, ie;
Humans BEING and those who feed off them
Taking responsibility
Thinking clearly and coherently
Thinking versus believing
Freedom versus responsibility
The real nature of power etc.
It's all and it's nothing, and very wonderful it is too. Every video collection needs at least one John Trudell talk to remind us who we are, where we came from, and how we can go about using our humanity to make things better.
