This excellent and important short book is taken from a series of lectures given by Monsignor George Dillon late in the 19th century. The original title of the published work was "War of Antichrist against the Church and Christian Civilization". With this in mind, even the title of this edition is singularly noteworthy. This title is a paraphrase of the admonition issued by Pope Leo III in his memorable and magnificent "Humanum Genus", where he enjoined his followers to tear away the mask of freemasonry. Notice that the Holy Father did not qualify this charge relative to Grand Orient Freemasonry, as distinct from the cult in general. And neither does Monsignor Dillon's important work.

For those who are uninstructed in these matters, this may seem insignificant. However, this formulation goes to the patently false notion that British Freemasonry somehow ought to be exempt from condemnation by Christian Civilization. Both Dillon and Pope Leo XIII make no distinction between the evil of either denomination of the cult. In fact, Dillon correctly identifies that Illuminated Freemasonry was run out of England during the time of Lord Palmerston. And it is Illuminated Freemasonry which is the true and implacable enemy of the Church and Christian Civilization.

This book is excellent, informative, and extraordinarily well written. He who would understand the modern history of Western Civilization would be well advised to read this very important book. God bless.
