At Folsom Prison with Timothy Leary (1973)

Timothy Leary: An Interview from Folsom Prison in 1973. Leary discusses his philosophy, drugs, prison rights, and his life on the run as well as his life in prison. (Prison footage from the 1970's; check out around 17:20 and 22:00)

Timothy Francis Leary (October 22, 1920 – May 31, 1996) was a highly influential American psychologist and writer, known in particular for advocating the therapeutic benefits of psychedelic drugs. A hugely controversial figure during the 1960s and 1970s, he defended the use of the drug LSD for its therapeutic, emotional and spiritual benefits, and believed it showed incredible potential in the field of psychiatry. Leary also popularized the phrase "Turn on, tune in, drop out". Both proved to be hugely influential on the 1960s counterculture. Largely due to his influence in this field, he was attacked by conservative figures in the United States, and described as "the most dangerous man in America" by President Richard Nixon. --wikipedia

comment: Leary has a truly superior intellect - unlike our so called leaders who are nothing else than well dressed cave men. His charisma seems to transcend space and time. If only the American people had listened to such people, then the world would be a different place today. But people chose to follow leaders like Nixon instead of Leary - and today we live in a "Nixon-world". Do you like the Nixon-world? It's not really about drugs it's about realizing who you truly are, it's about living your life from a completely different perspective, from the perspective of an immortal spiritual being using a physical body enjoying life on the material plane and being able to interact with other spiritual beings. But in the Nixon-world it's all about winning, about power and control, domination and suppression, intimidation and deception. This is what happens when you give material bodies to inexperienced and immature spiritual beings. And now the whole world has been infected by the "Nixon state of mind". It's like a virus, a mind virus, a meme, and the more people have been infected by it, the harder it seems to get for the remaining free spirits to remain free. The mental ossification of the Borg-collective is suffocating the whole world. The supreme Self is a great solvent and without it the tyranny of matter over spirits would be absolute. Leary can be seen here in a prison and yet - have you ever seen a more liberated spirit? Let's face it: The human soul has been crucified on the cross of human flesh, on the cross of the Nixon-world, on the cross of the Borg-collective. But maybe Leary was an agent of the elite meant to manage the social ecology of youth culture, and this war waged on him was just another hoax in the old tradition of Hegelian dialectic...
