In the early 20th century, while studying world mythology, Joseph Campbell discovered a pattern hidden in every story ever told and he called it “the hero’s journey.” The documentary takes us on a magical journey through the human psyche and on to Joseph Campbell’s most important teaching of all: follow your bliss.

A truly inspirational film, Finding Joe takes us on the ultimate hero’s journey: the journey of self-discovery. As you slay dragons and uncover treasures, you just may find that the holy grail you seek is closer than you think.

The director of this documentary made it available for free on YouTube in HD recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8nFACrLxr0

Thank you for sharing this, I might have missed it otherwise. It is rare to find modern pieces related to Campbell. I spent years researching his works, especially his 4-volume, The Masks of God. That was written in the 50s, though and so much good archaeology has occurred since I always hoped for a more recent version. While I never found anything quite so on point as that I am happy to report that Jordan Peterson's opus, Maps of Meaning (written in the 90s) is a good approximation. Recommended.

Maps of Meaning book is on pdfdrive.com
His maps of meaning lectures are on youtube, I like the 2017 version but there are others there

I was first exposed to Joseph Campbell thanks to Bill Moyer's excellent The Power of Myth special on PBS. It was life-changing. I collected several of his books in physical format many years ago but also started to share and download digital copies of his material. I had a huge Campbell archive posted here but my seedbox no longer uploads to public trackers. I recently found The Masks of God archive of PDFs as well as the new Audible audiobook copies. Definitely something worth getting into.
