Comment:
The information-density of this interview is quite amazing. Many timeless statements are made by Mr. Haykal, a highly intelligent man. His rather prophetic statements made in 1972 are being confirmed by the current situation in the Middle East. He clearly explains how the special US-Israeli relationship has seriously damaged the influence of the US in the Middle East, and he points to the fact that with bullets alone the US will never be able to handle the situation. He explains why the solution can only be based on an autonomous Palestinian state, and why the US is hurting its own interests by overweighting its support for Israel. Furthermore he talks about the 'Arab Nation' and the true causes of Palestinian terrorism. Today the relationship between the US an the Arab world can only be called a disaster, and the current military intervention is not a sign of strength but the outcome of failed diplomacy and damaged intercultural understanding. Mr. Haykal also mentions Zionism and the Rothschilds.
