It looks like he was just one
It looks like he was just one of the high-level Nazis who managed to get away, whom was finally find out, and they more or less scapegoated him in regards to the whole atrocity of the extermination of Jews etc, that some people thought he didn't necessarily represent all of the Nazis who were guilty of the crimes, and he claimed he was only following orders. This looks like a re-stitching of the entire court proceedings that were all on film on TV at the time.
