Deepak Chopra - Escaping the Prison of the Intellect (1992)

A Journey from here to here.

This recording shows why Deepak Chopra is considered one of the great pioneers in the field of mind-body medicine. Here he offers compelling answers to the eternal questions of identity, origin, and meaning. Chopra’s thesis is that people rely on their senses to define their experience of reality — limiting their experience of the material world and making them prisoners, out of touch with realities that lie beyond the material. He explains that there is no difference between observer and observed; it is all one shared experience. Realizing this truth, says Chopra, frees people from their sensory-created prison to experience a more nurturing and fulfilling life. The author’s calm, uplifting voice gives these ideas heft and power, and his inclusion of relaxed guitar interludes let listeners pause to contemplate more deeply. Chopra expands the discussion by citing T. S. Eliot, Nietzsche, Rumi, Tagore, and Patanjali, as well as scientific experiments and spiritual texts.

As the best-selling author of several books on longevity, physician Chopra here ponders the big questions of life as he challenges listeners to open their minds to new ways of thinking. Escaping the Prison of the Intellect explores the ways in which we perceive our existence through our physical bodies (whimsically referred to as "skin encapsulated egos" ), our position in time, and others' perceptions. Chopra neatly ties in ideas of such thinkers as Nietzsche and T.S. Eliot. Sacred Verses, Healing Sounds is comprised mainly of Chopra reading from the Bhagavad Gita, a Hindu text of spiritual concepts or yogas. Chopra's introduction focuses on the universality of language among all living things and its power to influence and heal. The conversational tone used by the eminently articulate author adds an intimate quality that is further enhanced by exotic Indian music. The excellent technical quality, however, cannot overcome the limited appeal of the subject matter. An optional purchase for most collections.

Recorded in 1992 prior to Chopra's rise to fame, this brief recording is an authoritative summary of his thinking on how the mind and physical senses conspire to create barriers to a more fulfilling life. These ideas will remain difficult for anyone whose grasp of quantum physics is marginal, especially Westerners who depend too much on logic and reason to understand their lives. Listeners familiar with quantum physics may find this lecture to be more poetic than instructive, more inspirational than informative. On balance, this quality actually makes it a nice departure for Dr. Chopra, given the large number of other recordings we now have from him that are more accessible.

comment: You have to be very careful with this type of teachings. The slightest misunderstanding can lead you towards a false luciferian doctrine. You are NOT GOD. Humility and repentance will lead to GOD and NOT egomania and pride. Masons and satanists are hyper-egomaniacs. Somehow they can listen to Deepak without ever understanding a word of what he's saying. Some people can only hear what they want to hear. Take your red pill and break through the mind-matrix.
