Old but most of it is still spot on. This is the 25th An. ed - some of the episodes have an update at the end, so do not switch off when u first see the credits.

If you have not watched this series, then i highly recommend doing so. it covers many aspects of life, from space/the universe, down to life on earth and the atomic scale.

i have stared watching these again, and am amazed at what some of my ancestors achieved.

for example:
* the worlds first known scientific experiment, on one of the greek islands, 500 BC.
* the first person to prove that the earth was round and measure/estimate the circumference, to within 1% accuracy. 300 BC.
* the first person to logically ague that the earth revolved around the sun. 500 BC.

and so on

There is some info. which is incorrect:
* attributing the theory of relativity to Albert (who was in real life stupid and took credit for the idea from his wife - as detail in my previous torrents).
* describing a gravity universe
* accepting the big bang theory.

however this is a great series if people wish to start from basics and begin to learn about the world/universe we live in.

btw - it was in this doc that i first heard the term 'google' and 'google-plex'

Now, there have been some recent posts, attempting to discredit the information that Carl has presented, like the video doc. regarding life (on other planets), 'The Privileged Planet 2004', which made one huge incorrect assumption - viz - 'life is abundant in the universe' (from memory at approx. 9 minute mark). then on this false information/assumption, they go about using the argument that: since they have been looking and have not found any evidence of intelligent life, that we are the only intelligent life and that Carl was wrong. How pathetic an argument. Just because you do not find something, is not proof that it does not exist. i guess people would use any argument to uphold/defend their religion/beliefs.

i have included his book in Lit format (and i converted it to pdf and txt)
