Jaron Lanier has never created a social media account, but that doesn't make him a technophobic Luddite. In fact, the Silicon Valley pioneer is considered a founding father of virtual reality, who worked on the growth of the Internet in the 1990s. He's currently an interdisciplinary scientist at Microsoft. And he's urging you to delete your social media accounts, free yourself from the toxicity and disastrous affects.
Lanier breaks down his reasoning with evidence in his book Ten Arguments for Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now. He spoke to The Current's Friday host Piya Chattoaphdyay.
