Four-part documentary series looking at censorship in the 1980s and 1990s.

The Channel 4 Banned season was a series of television documentaries on the UK's Channel 4 in 2004-2005, examining the history of explicit and controversial material on British television, and its infiltration of the mainstream.

Episode 1 (07 March 2005)

Focusing on the years 1980-1984, looks at censorship concerning video nasties, Derek & Clive, and reporting of the Falklands War.

Episode 2 (08 March 2005)

Focusing on the years 1985-1989, looks at censorship issues over Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams' voice being banned from the airwaves, attempts to stem the rise of football hooliganism and to stop raves from taking place, and statements from the band the Beastie Boys.

Episode 03 (09 March 2005)

Focusses on the years 1990-1994, and censorship over the BSE public health scare, the Gulf war and Madonna's controversial book 'Sex'.

Episode 04 (10 March 2005)

Focusses on the years 1995-1999 and controversy over the films CRASH and KIDS, the antics and message of the singer Marilyn Manson, alcopops, Brit Art, homosexuals in the military, and corporal punishment.
