The most popular pictures of Nicolae Ceausescu are those showing him in the courtroom in his lawsuit. This fact leads to a proved film plot: A defendant is looking back on his life| while his case becomes more and more of a theatrical production. However| this play has some special effects. Not only is the victim neither Jeanne d'Arc nor Alfred Dreyfus but an abject tyrant. Moreover| every single picture seen and commented by him is a contemporary document. Every spectator will understand after a couple of minutes| that the film consists of documentary takes only and| as the title shows| someone else has written Ceausescu's monologue. While the original material| through the montage| reaches the emotional power known from a motion picture| the hero's fictional monologue aims at the objectivity of the historic document by the most precise reconstruction of its psychological situation.
