Episode 1
1) US : CHUPACABRAS (DUR: 6'46)
Since it was first sighted on Puerto Rico in the mid 90's, the Chupacabras, or goatsucker, has become one of the greatest puzzles of the paranormal. Said to be around five feet tall with red eyes, fangs and powerful hind legs, it's been sighted as far away as Moscow. Animal X- hits the Chupacabras trail to help unravel the mystery. Paranormal investigator Ted Loman and folklorist Jim Griffith give their expert assessments, while eye-witnesses offer first hand accounts of their terrifying encounters with the mysterious beast

2) Australia : Elixir of Life - MAGIC COWS (DUR: 7'40)
Cattle and sheep in the high plains, near Canberra in Australia, are living to extraordinary ages, staying healthy and remaining reproductively randy well into their twilight years. Scientists are determined to find out more about the animals life sustaining bio-chemistry. Is it the water? Is it the soil? And does it hold the key to extending human life.

3) UK : PHANTOM BLACK DOG (DUR: 10'12)
They're considered to be the most persistent of all ghostly animals. Reported sightings of Phantom Black Dogs in Britain date back to medieval times. Four hundred years ago, a devil dog was even blamed for killing five people in a church. Some believe they're protective creatures, others, an omen of death. Whatever their purpose, the Phantom Dogs have left an indelible impression on anyone who's witnessed them. Animal X travelled to East Anglia to speak to those who have witnessed this ghostly phenomenon.

Episode 2
1) Indonesia : KILLER CROCS (DUR: 7'19)
For decades, Indonesia has been home to giant prehistoric beasts that lurk beneath the water. Animal X travelled to southern Irian Jaya to investigate the incredible reports of killer crocodiles, some over nine metres long, that have been blamed for the deaths of more than fifty men, women and children. Our expedition took us deep into the Asmat jungle where we discovered a rich and superstitious culture revolving around spirits, myths and legends. Animal X also looked at one of the most famous disappearances from the region in the 1960s - that of Michael Rockefeller, son of famous New York Governor, Nelson Rockerfeller. Theories vary from head-hunters to the notorious killer croc.

2) Australia : FIZO (DUR: 6'34)
Eight year old Sydney terrier, Fizo, became the first animal in Australia to win the RSPCA's Purple Cross award for bravery, after saving three children from a brown snake. Fizo was struck several times by the poisonous snake before biting the snake in half. Fizo spent the rest of the day on a respirator and it took another six months for his full recovery.

26) South Africa : HOWICK FALLS MONSTER (DUR: 9'47)
For thousands of years Howick Falls, in the South African province of Kwa-Zulu Natal has been the source of legends. The Zulu's believe a giant snake, known as Inkanyamba inhabits the pool at the bottom of the falls. Rock paintings from the region show that the Bushmen who lived here before the Zulus also believed in the giant snake. Inkanyamba is feared and respected by the local community. It is believed to carry the spirits of the ancestors and bring death to anyone who sees it. Only witchdoctors or Sangomas are permitted to visit the pool where it is believed to live. Several Europeans are also convinced that a strange monster lurks in the depths. Bob Teeney took a photograph of a plesiosaur-type animal that he claims surfaced when he visited the pool with a friend. He also claims to have found eggs belonging to a dinosaur. Experts think the eggs are more likely those of a crocodile. There is no doubt however that Howick Falls possess a mysterious allure. This could explain the large number of people who are attracted to the falls to end their own lives.

Episode 3
1) Australia : RAINBOW SERPENT (DUR: 6'45)
Deep sea documentary makers, Andrew and Liz Wight, experienced first hand the power of Aboriginal mythology on location of their first Quest documentary. The dynamic duo spied a snake just moments before submerging themselves in Australia's largest underwater cave system. Aboriginal elders warned that the snake or rainbow serpent is an ominous sign and advised not to proceed with the dive. The couple ignored the advice, a flash flood ensued and the diving party were trapped in the cave for days - luckily no lives were lost.

2) Turkey : LAKE MONSTER (DUR: 8'00)
Beneath the shining waters of Lake Van in Turkey, it's said there lurks a huge and mysterious creature beyond the comprehension of science. Animal X travelled to the region to investigate reported sightings of Turkey's very own Loch Ness Monster, a creature that may have even been sighted in centuries gone by and immortalised in stone on a local thousand year old church. We also look at amazing amateur footage, thought to be the Monster of Lake Van, which has not only locals, but the whole world talking.

3) India : KILLER WOLVES (DUR: 9'22)
In Northern India, nightfall brings with it a certain terror. All ears are tuned for the sounds of hungry predators in search of young, vulnerable victims - a killer wolf pack that so far, has been blamed for attacking more than 70 children. Animal X travelled to the impoverished district of Rae Bareli in the state of Uttar Pradesh to investigate the incredible reports of man-eating wolves. Such incredible stories of invincible beasts snatching children have led to rumours that it may not be the work of a wolfpack, but wolf-MEN. Villagers primeval fears, fuelled by superstition has even led to the lynch mobs killing three men, thought to be the wolves in disguise.

As a foot note Andrew Wight died in a helicopter crash on the weekend of the 4th of February 2012. .

Episode 4
1) US : CATTLE MUTILATIONS (DUR: 7'28)

There's something deadly stalking the eerie San Luis Valley in Colorado and New Mexico. A mysterious entity that preys on cattle, mutilating them with surgical precision. It's a gruesome phenomenon that's been going on now for more than twenty years, and one that's got officials and ranchers truly baffled.

Animal X headed to northern New Mexico to investigate the many theories on the attacks including claims that extra-terrestrials are the cattle surgeons. Others say it could be the macabre attacks could be the work of satanic cults practising animal sacrifice. Whoever or whatever is responsible they have certainly covered their tracks and lack of evidence is just as mystifying as the mutilations themselves.

2) Australia : CROC HORROR (DUR: 7'49)

Eight years ago in one of the most idyllic locations in Australia a beautiful, young tourist lost her life to one of the most notorious predators on Earth. Ginger Meadows made a fatal mistake. She thought she could out swim a crocodile. Like many Ginger was not aware of the power and speed of a creature that has outlived the dinosaurs and continues to threaten all who cross its path. In the Northern Territory (of Australia) the hunt for Ginger's killer continues.

3) Ireland : BLACK CAT OF KILLAKEE DUBLIN IRELAND THE HELLFIRE CLUB (DUR: 9'32)

From Ireland comes one of the most terrifying and best authenticated tales of a ghostly animal. Known as The Black Cat of Killakee, the phantom feline is said to haunt the bleak mountains overlooking Dublin. Reported sightings go back almost three hundred years. One eyewitness, an Irish artist, painted a picture of what HE saw, a terrifying cat with red eyes. The cat even has links to the Dublin branch of the Hell Fire Club, an association of arrogant, vicious young 'bucks' said to be in league with the devil. Animal X went to investigate.

Episode 5
1) Australia : DANGEROUS DINGOES (DUR: 9'56)
Lindy Chamberlain speaks exclusively to Animal X about why she believes a dingo took her baby. Australia's most infamous and mysterious animal case - the disappearance of Azaria Chamberlain from her tent at Ayers Rock in August 1980. Lindy Chamberlain claimed that Azaria was taken by a dingo. An investigation involving the police, forensic experts and Aboriginal trackers followed but was inconclusive. This led to a controversial court case which found Lindy guilty of murdering her daughter Azaria. Lindy was sent to jail, however a subsequent hearing later exonerated her.

2) Turkey : FLESH EATING FISH (DUR: 7'10)
A small village high in the mountains of Eastern Turkey is a place where miracles happen everyday. Psoriasis sufferers travel in their thousands to the hot springs of Cermik to have their debilitating disease cured by the mysterious Doctor Fish. There are said to be three types of Doctor Fish which work as a team: the striker peels away the patient's flaky skin; the sucker draws the patient's blood; and the healer uses saliva to dress the wound. And the results are as smooth as a baby's bottom!

32) USA : BIG FOOT (DUR: 9'35)
During the last century large primates of up to eight feet tall have been spotted across the United States. Although 'Big Foot', as the beast has become known, has been sighted in every state, sightings are concentrated in the remote mountainous parts of the country. In October 1958 a group of loggers came across several human-like footprints in a remote part of the Northern Californian woods. The footprints ranged in length from 12 to 17 inches long and about 7 inches wide. Big Foot was spotted by several other road construction workers as they hacked a ribbon of civilisation further into the dense bush. Since then the animal that the Indians call Sasquatch has fascinated adventurers. For three weeks last August a team of experts went into the remote Siskiyou Mountains in Northern California looking for some answers. Secretary of the International Society of Cryptozoology, Richard Greenwell, his son Darwin, Primatologist Jeffrey Meldrum and their mountain guide Mark Slack found no proof of the existence of Big Foot. But their experiences added up to a strong case in favour of the creature's presence. The group found several sets of human-like tracks, measuring up to 16 inches in length. They heard howls and their camp was visited by animals that they couldn't explain away as bears. Animal X obtained exclusive material from the team's expedition into the wilderness. Richard Greenwell suggests Big Foot may be related to the Gigantopithecus that roamed China 300,000 years ago. He suggests that it may have crossed the Bering land bridge from Asia and into North America and remained in the forests, leading a largely reclusive life

Episode 6
1) Indonesia : KOMODO (DUR: 6'58)
It's the world's biggest reptile, capable of eating a whole deer and even water buffalo. A species that's survived for some ten million years, the Komodo Dragon is without a doubt one of the most fascinating creatures on earth. Animal X travelled to its homeland, Komodo Island to unravel the mystery and myth behind this enormous predatory lizard which has even been blamed for killing people including a Baron from Switzerland.

30) Zimbabwe : GHOSTLY LION (DUR: 7'48)
For centuries, Zimbabwe's Lion Cult has persisted in the belief that at times, special animals are possessed by the spirits of important ancestors. Taking the physical form of lions, these ancestral spirits roam the countryside interceding where necessary in the affairs of men. Animal X investigates the Lion Cult, telling the documented story of one such encounter with a Spirit Lion.

3) Canada : LAKE MONSTERS (DUR: 8'39)
Thousands of lakes are scattered across Canada and the United States. Almost as numerous are the reports of huge and unexplained creatures that inhabit them. North America has produced more sightings of lake monsters than any other continent. Researchers speculate that populations of giant creatures found their way into the lakes when they were still arms of the sea. When the waters became freshwater lakes, the populations remained, feeding on the fish stocks and breeding. Some experts suggest they're plesiosaurs, giant pre-historic reptiles left over from the Jurassic period. At Lake Champlain hundreds of people have reported seeing something more like a serpent. Tales go back as far as the seventeenth century. At nearby Lake Memphremagog strange creatures with long necks have also been reported since the early 1800's. There are reports that the Indians wouldn't bathe in the lake because they thought it was inhabited by a monster. The lake creatures remain elusive, seldom captured on film. A photograph taken in 1977 is a rare exception. Researchers believe it shows the long neck of a monster curved over its humped body in Lake Champlain. Sceptics dispute the authenticity of the photograph, but the sightings continue and the search for the truth goes on

Episode 7
1) Egypt : CAT CULT (DUR: 7'51)
Throughout the ages the cat has been cursed as a demon by some and venerated in other periods as a deity. Nowhere was the cat more revered than in Ancient Egypt. The Ancient Egyptians are credited with domesticating felines 5000 years ago. Its thought that all cats in Europe are descendants from the Egyptian's pets. But the cat wasn't just a respected member of the household it was a goddess. Bastet or Bast as she is also known was the cat goddess. She was the goddess of love, joy and fertility. Her name was found in one of the pyramids of Giza. It's believed that she was protector of the North of Egypt. She also guarded the body of the kings. At Bubastis, 80 kilometres North-east of Cairo archaeologists discovered a vast necropolis containing mummified cats. Thirteen temples dedicated to the cat were also found there. At Bubastis, Bast was celebrated with huge festivals. Even today there are still followers of Bast. Animal X obtained exclusive home video of the cat cult in California. Hundreds or perhaps even more follow the ancient teachings and give offerings to Bast, just as they did thousands of years ago.

2) Australia : ALIEN ANIMALS (DUR: 6'19)
Many people believe we have been visited by alien beings from other planets ... so is it possible that they sometimes travel with their inter-galactic pets? Animal X investigates strange tales from Australia which suggest that earth is now home to alien animals which have been brought here from outer space. But why would a flying saucer carry a menagerie ... and just what did the aliens leave behind?

3) US : KILLER BEES (DUR: 8'31)
It has all the makings of a bad sci-fi movie, but this is no far-fetched horror film. This is for real. From Latin America to Texas, Arizona and Southern California, people are taking cover from THE SWARM! -- Killer Bees that so far have been blamed for the deaths of more than 700 people and countless animals. And not only are they real - they're unstoppable. Animal X travelled to Tuscon, Arizona - just one of the many cities caught in the grip of this bizarre phenomenon, the result of a biological disaster, a scientific experiment gone wrong. We went in search of residents whose lives have been shattered by these flying freaks of nature, officially known as Africanized Honey Bees.

Episode 8
1) Egypt : SALAAWA (DUR: 9'02)
From Egypt comes a tale of a mysterious beast, reported to have injured dozens of people in ferocious night-time attacks. It's name, the Salaawa, or female ghoul. Animal X went to meet the victims of this bizarre stalker and to see first-hand the horrific injuries they've sustained. Witness accounts vary, but most say the animal looks like a dog or wolf. Some claim it has supernatural powers the ability to change shape and jump high in the air. Following 23 attacks in just two weeks in Quattamiya, police set up patrols in the district and ordered residents to stay indoors. The animal responsible was eventually killed, but only after savaging an entire family. They claim it was invincible and when they threw it on a fire, it's body would not burn.

2) AUS : DOLPHIN THERAPY (DUR: 7'43)
From the West Coast of Ireland to the West Coast of Australia people are taking to the waters to swim with dolphins as a means of therapy. From children with autism to adults with schizophrenia and MS, all seem to feel an overwhelming sense of calm and well-being after having swum with dolphins. But what's the reason behind this phenomena. Why do dolphins seem to want to be with the sick and disabled? Animal X takes a closer look.

3) USA : JERSEY DEVIL (DUR: 9'32)
From the east coast of America comes a tale of a mysterious creature that's been around for more than 250 years. The Jersey Devil has been seen by more than two thousand witnesses, has terrorised towns and even forced factories and schools to close down. Animal X travelled to Leed's Point to investigate this fascinating entity, who's precise origins remain shrouded in mystery. One theory is that a local woman gave birth to a child that turned into a devil creature. Some say the Devil is a harbinger of doom. It's been seen at the outbreak of five wars, shipwrecks and the onset of bad weather. Whatever your verdict on this incredible tale, one fact remains - something very strange has scared a lot of people in this neck of the woods. Could there really be a devil in their midst?
