Alvin Toffler has been described by the Financial Times as the "world's most famous futurologist". People's Daily classes him among the 50 foreigners that shaped modern China.

A documentary based on Future Shock was released in 1972 with Orson Welles as the narrator.

Newt Gingrich was/is heavily inspired by Toffler's writings, namely, The Third Wave.
