Christians are successfully being programmed to fear.
They are being implanted to fear such images as eyeballs, pyramids, checkerboard floors, pillars, stars, lightning bolts, horns, the color red, hand gestures, etc. This is very similar to the way the masses were programmed to associate hate with the ancient swastika symbol.
The masses aren't being targeted with this programming, it is targeting mostly Christians. The masses take no notice of these things, they're already spiritually numb and have lost their connection to the spirit world. But those who's minds can still be influenced by the invisible inspirations coming from the spiritual world, those people must be either driven to insanity or their minds must also be brought down and darkened so that they can only be influenced by the physical influences of the material world (comfort/money/sex/food/entertainment/etc.). They cannot get to you if your mind is in the boundless realm of the spiritual; but as soon as they trap you into materialistic thinking... you are theirs. If they can't get you there, they'll do the second best thing, make you insane.
It's important that you are able to strike a balance between reason and spiritual belief. Each will purge the negative aspects of the other. Likewise, each will protect you from different types of attacks.
Rational spiritualism. Spiritual science. Unifying two streams, the spiritual and the materialistic. Unity from polarization. Inspired by the spiritual, but not fooled by superstition.

Thinking about this, you're right. This sort of programming appears to affect certain types of Christians more than others; in particular Protestant Christians. Catholics, Orthodox Christians, and Mormons don't seem to be too affected by it. Muslims also appear to be affected (ex: the Wake Up Project).
I wonder what the correlation is? Could it be the hierarchy within these institutions? It is easier to become a Protestant pastor or a Muslim imam than to become a Catholic or Orthodox priest. Could it be that leadership positions within Protestantism and Islam are easier to obtain, so a greater number of untrained leaders spring up in these groups?
