1. Nobles and Nobility in Medieval Europe: Concepts, Origins, Transformations - by Anne J. Duggan 2002

The great strength of this collection is its wide range...a valuable work for anyone interested in the social aspects of the medieval nobility. CHOICE Articles on the origins and nature of 'nobility', its relationship with the late Roman world, its acquisition and exercise of power, its association with military obligation, and its transformation into a more or less willing instrument of royal government. NELSON, TIMOTHY A REUTER, JANE ROBERTS, MARIA JOAO VIOLANTE BRANCO, JENNIFER C. WARD

2. Synchronized Chronology: Rethinking Middle East Antiquity - by Roger Henry 2002

Imagine how distorted our understanding of ancient history would be if the chronological framework around which it was built had several extra centuries added. What if the backbone of Egyptian dynasties contained duplicates?

The Synchronized Chronology resolves the structural problems of Egyptian chronology and then outlines the correct history of the Middle East and Mediterranean time of Abraham and his wandering into the Empire of Alexander the Great.
Recognizing some overlapping of dates and names in Manetho's List of Kings, frees history to place pharaohs and dynasties where archaeology supports their existence. This resolves a myriad of discrepancies and unlikely assumptions that historians have been forced to swallow, and neatly opens the way to synchronizing Egyptian
dynasties with Biblical chronology.

3. The Penguin Historical Atlas of Greece - by Robert Morkot 1997

This well-illustrated volume is just the thing to have on hand while working your way through the pages of Xenophon, Herodotus, and Thucydides. Robert Morkot traces the growth of Greece from a series of often conflicting city-states, each with its own colonial outposts as far from home as Spain and Tunisia, to loosely knit alliances that waged huge conflicts against the Persian empire--and, as in the case of the Peloponnesian War, against each other. The pages devoted to Alexander the Great, which show how the Greek empire came to extend from southern Egypt to the gates of China are particularly interesting.

4. The Palgrave Concise Historical Atlas of the Second World War - by Martin Folly 2005

The Palgrave Concise Atlas of World War II presents a wide range of chapters on the military campaigns, major political developments, frontier changes, international conferences and alliances of World War II, together with chapters on the home fronts in the major participating nations and in occupied Europe and Asia (the latter covering, for instance, resistance, population movements and genocide). Chapters covering the military campaigns also focus on recent discoveries, in particular the role of signals intelligence and code-breaking. The result is a comprehensive atlas covering all the major aspects of the war and presenting the military events in their full context.

5. The Turk and His Lost Provinces: Greece, Bulgaria, Servia, Bosnia - by William Eleroy Curtis 1903

A rare, albeit grossly anti-Turkish, chronicle from the last years of the Ottoman Empire by W. E. Curtis (1850-1911), an American author and journalist. His works include: The Yankees of the East, Sketches of Modern Japan (1896), Modern India (1905), The Turk and His Lost Provinces, To-day in Syria and Palestine, Egypt, Burma and British Malaysia and United States to Dominate the Hemisphere.

Von Moltke, the great German soldier, predicted that a universal war would be fought under the walls of Constantinople. He had faith that the Christian Powers of Europe, sooner or later, would compel the Turks to respect their moral, political, and financial obligations. This would have been done years ago but for the jealousy of those Powers, and the thousands of innocent Macedonians who have been massacred and the hundreds of thousands who have suffered from Turkish cruelty are the victims of that jealousy. The Czar would intervene, but England, France, Austria, and Germany will not permit him to do so for fear Russia will obtain a port upon the Mediterranean. At intervals the uprisings in Macedonia have indicated the approach of hostilities. They have grown more frequent and serious until, as this little book goes to press, Russia and Austria have demanded a better government for Macedonia, and the Sultan has responded by ordering 250,000 Turkish troops into that province. Diplomatic negotiations and empty assurances may again avert war, but every sign indicates that Von Moltke's prophecy is soon to be fulfilled. The purpose of this publication is to give English readers a few facts about the several "buffer-states" of the Balkan Peninsula which cannot be elsewhere obtained. It is the result of a journey through that peninsula as correspondent of The Chicago Record-Herald, and although the author realizes that it is defective and incomplete, he is confident that the American public will appreciate his efforts to give them the timely information it contains.

6. Religious Pluralism, Globalization, and World Politics - by Thomas Banchoff 2008

Work on culture and globalization tends to focus on dynamics of reaction or resistance. Religion generally figures as a defensive response to economic and cultural globalization, a way to assert local identities against the international. The book will highlight another dimension of religion and globalization -- the reconstitution of religious communities as transnational actors. Over the past two decades, global migration patterns and modern communications technologies have spawned more active transnational religious communities, creating a powerful force in world politics. In the case of Islam, for example, satellite TV, the Internet, and the post-9/11 international context have reinforced the idea of the umma, a transnational Muslim community. All three Abrahamic faiths have always had global identities anchored in faith in one God and universal truth claims. But globalization is driving them -- and other leading traditions, including Hinduism and Buddhism -- to rethink their world roles in new ways.

Yet the international dimensions of religious pluralism have been virtually ignored by scholars. This new religious pluralism is marked by both interreligious cooperation and conflict. Global religious identities have encouraged interreligious dialogue and greater religious engagement around questions including international development, conflict resolution, transitional justice, and bioethics. At the same time, more intense interreligious competition has contributed to controversy over the meaning and scope of religious freedom -- an international norm increasingly prominent in US foreign policy.

The book will explore both these dimensions of the new religious pluralism in world politics from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. Among the many distinguished contributors to the volume are Kwame Anthony Appiah, R. Scott Appleby, Robert Drinan, Jean Bethke Elshtain, John Voll, and John Witte. This volume should appeal to scholars and policymakers, as well as being useful for courses in religion and politics and international relations.

7. Jesus Among Other Gods: The Absolute Claims of the Christian Message - by Ravi Zacharias 2002

In his most important work to date, apologetics scholar and popular speaker Ravi Zacharias shows how the blueprint for life and death itself is found in a true understanding of Jesus. With a simple yet penetrating style, Zacharias uses rich illustrations to celebrate the power of Jesus Christ to transform lives.Jesus Among Other Godscontrasts the truth of Jesus with founders of Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism, strengthening believers and compelling them to share their faith with our post-modern world.

8. The Lost Ark of the Covenant: Solving the 2,500-Year-Old Mystery of the Fabled Biblical Ark - by Tudor Parfitt 2009

The Lost Ark of the Covenant is the real-life account of an astounding quest—professor Tudor Parfitt's effort to recover the revered artifact that contained the Ten Commandments, sacred to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

This holy object disappeared from the Temple when the Babylonians invaded Jerusalem in 586 BC and was lost—apparently forever.

According to the biblical account, the Ark was built at the command of God, in accord with Moses's prophetic vision on Mount Sinai. The Ark, believed to be the throne of God, was carried by the Israelite high priests in the wilderness during their harrowing search for a homeland. When the Babylonians destroyed Jerusalem, the Ark entered the domain of legend. The mysterious disappearance of arguably the most important religious artifact in history led to a plethora of theories about the location of the Ark. Its whereabouts unknown, adventurers risked their lives and fortunes for over two millennia in attempts to discover this sacred treasure.

With painstaking historical scholarship, groundbreaking genetic science, and hair-raising fieldwork, Parfitt, who the Wall Street Journal calls "a British Indiana Jones," debunks the previous myths and reveals the shocking history of the Ark and its keepers. From Israel to Egypt, Ethiopia, and the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, the journey leads to places Parfitt could never have imagined. He encounters a cannibalistic tribe in Papua, New Guinea.

He is ambushed and shot at in Africa. And he narrowly escapes being kidnapped by Islamist outlaws in the wilder reaches of Yemen.Throughout his search, he is aided by a motley crew of kabbalistic mystics, Muslim holy men, charlatans and crooks, tribal elders, and scheming politicians.

The Lost Ark of the Covenant is a vivid and page-turning account of the culmination of two decades of research by an acclaimed scholar and adventurer. In the end, legend becomes reality as an unknown history comes to light, and with it our understanding of this lost treasure is changed forever.

10. The Assassins Handbook 2002

The assassin is a killer for hire, a fighter whose strength comes from the element of surprise and from the complete disregard he has for the rules of "honorable" combat. The Assassin's Handbook, second in Green Ronin's Master Class series, brings back the First Edition tradition of the assassin core class. In addition to Master Class essentials like new feats, spells, equipment, and prestige classes, the book also includes an extensive selection of new poisons and two complete assassin brotherhoods - the icy and professional Vultur and the mysterious and fanatic Sirat.

11. Secret Societies: Gardiner's Forbidden Knowledge : Revelations About the Freemasons, Templars, Illuminati, Nazis, and the Serpent Cults - by Philip Gardiner 2007

With his recent best-selling books and hundreds of articles, as well as radio and TV appearances, Philip Gardiner has started a crusade for uncovering the truth, and nothing could be more indicative of that search than his latest foray into the dark and often sinister world of secret societies.

Yet again, in Secret Societies, Gardiner finds himself on a journey across the world to uncover the ancient secrets of the world's most powerful men. In one dramatic episode he finds himself driven out of Berlin in a black Mercedes by a secret organization that was believed to have disappeared after the second World War and eventually arrives in a modern Nazi watering hole. Gardiner, however, survives this incredible journey and brings us the secrets of the Order held sacred for so long.

Gardiner delves into a world that is often hidden from our eyes and finds himself in situations that seem to mirror the fictional world of the Da Vinci Code.

In Secret Societies, Gardiner:
-Gets to the core of the secret societies' belief systems.
-Explores the secret origins of Freemasonry and the links to secret Serpent Cults.
-Investigates the secret hidden meaning of King Arthur and Robin Hood. -Examines the claimants to the name of Illuminati, and analyzes the history of the group in Europe and America.
-Reveals the secret links within the Vatican and the Nazi Party.
-Looks in-depth at the white-powdered gold theory supposedly kept secret by orders throughout time and radically re-appraises it.
-Shows the link between the so-called enlightenment experience and the control of our minds.

Nobody in the genre involves themselves in the tale in the same way that Gardiner does, and here he shows that the search for ultimate truth can often be a terrifying one.

12. Breaking the South Slav Dream: The Rise and Fall of Yugoslavia - by Kate Hudson 2003

This book provides a revisionist history of the rise and fall of Yugoslavia. Assessing the geo-political and geo-strategic reasons for its creation and dismemberment, it is an important corrective to much contemporary theorising about the destruction of the Yugoslav state. In particular Kate Hudson draws attention to the role of foreign states whose involvement in Yugoslavia did much to destabilise the region, and explains how and why this happened. Tracing the state's origins from 1918 through war and the Tito years, she explains the distortion of the socialist economy resulting from Yugoslavia's unusual position between the two Cold War blocs, and the economic collapse of the 1980s as part of the US's drive for a free market. She also investigates the true causes and effects of the recent wars in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo and brings the book up-to-date with an analysis of Milosevic's downfall, and events in Macedonia and Montenegro.

15. Cahuachi in the Ancient Nasca World By - Helaine Silverman 1993

Ever since its scientific discovery, the great Nasca site of Cahuachi on the south coast of the Central Andes has captured the attention of archaeologists, art historians, and the general public. Until Helaine Silverman's fieldwork, however, ancient Nasca culture was seen as an archaeological construct devoid of societal content. Silverman's long-term, multistage research as published in this volume reconstructs Nasca society and contextualizes the traces of this brilliant civilization (ca. 200 B.C.-A.D. 600). Silverman shows that Cahuachi was much larger and more complex than portrayed in the current literature but that, surprisingly, it was not a densely populated city. Rather, Cahuachi was a grand ceremonial center whose population, size, density, and composition changed to accommodate a ritual and political calendar. Silverman meticulously presents and interprets an abundance of current data on the physical complexities, burials, and artifacts of this prominent site; in addition, she synthesizes the history of previous fieldwork at Cahuachi and introduces a corrected map and a new chronological chart for the Rio Grande de Nazca drainage system. On the basis of empirical field data, ethnographic analogy, and settlement pattern analysis, Silverman constructs an Andean model of Nasca culture that is crucial to understanding the development of complex society in the Central Andes. Written in a clear and concise style and generously illustrated, this first synthesis of the published data about the ancient Nasca world will appeal to all archaeologists, art historians, urban anthropologists, and historians of ancient civilizations.

16. Earliest English Kings - by David Kirby 2000

The Earliest English Kings is a sweeping and thorough overview of Anglo-Saxon History from the sixth century to the eighth century and the death of King Alfred. Kirby explains and explores the 'Heptarchy' or the seven kingdoms of Anglo-Saxon England, as well as the various peoples within them, wars, religion, King Offa, and the coming of the Vikings.

In this completely revidsed edition, the author brings this classic book up to date to reflect on current findings on this line of rulers. With maps and family trees, this book reveals the complex, distant and tumultuous events of Anglo-Saxon politics.

David Kriby held a personal chair in History at the University of Whales, Aberystwyth and is now retired. He is the author of The Making of Early England and is co-author of A Bibliographical Dictionary of Dark Age Britain

17. Patriot Battles: How the War of Independence Was Fought By - Michael Stephenson 2007

Drawing on hundreds of specialist sources, contemporary and archival, Patriot Battles is the comprehensive one-volume study of the military aspects of the War of Independence. The first part of the book offers a richly detailed examination of the nuts and bolts of eighteenth-century combat: For example, who fought and what motivated them, whether patriot or redcoat, Hessian or Frenchman? How were they enlisted and trained? How were they clothed and fed? What weapons did they use, and how effective were they? When soldiers became casualties or fell ill, how did medical services deal with them? What roles did loyalists, women, blacks, and Indians play?

The second part of the book gives a closer look at the war's greatest battles, with maps provided for each. Which men were involved, and how many? What was the state of their morale and equipment? What parts did terrain and weather play? What were the qualities of the respective commanders, and what tactics did they employ? How many casualties were inflicted? And no less important, how did the soldiers fight?

Throughout, many cherished myths are challenged, reputations are reassessed, and long-held assumptions are tested. For all readers, Patriot Battles becomes not only one of the most satisfying and illuminating works to be added to the literature on the War of Independence in many years but also a refreshing wind blowing through some of its dustier corridors.

18. The Suppression of Guilt: The Israeli Media and the Reoccupation of the West - by Daniel Dor 2005

Is Israeli society losing touch with the rest of the world -- and with the reality of the on-going conflict with the Palestinians in the course of the Intifada? Israeli scholar Daniel Dor measures the breach between Israel's collective consciousness and international public opinion, and concludes that Israeli society has dangerously withdrawn into a sense of isolation and victimization -- in very large part because of the role played by the Israeli media during the reoccupation. Dor examines the ways in which the major Israeli media not only reported on events (or failed to do so) but played a key part in shaping opinion, setting the agenda and waging the propaganda war that accompanied the military offensives on the ground.

Originally published in Hebrew, this English-language version is revised, updated and recontextualised for non-Hebrew readers who might be less familiar with the minutiae of the Israeli media. Dor's study offers a damning indictment of the varied ways in which journalists and broadcasters abandoned any attempt at impartiality or so-called objectivity in their reportage, preferring instead to comply with an ideological imperative which in effect rules out any prospect of peace, justice or mutual understanding.

19. The Age of the DROMON: The Byzantine Navy ca 500-1204 - by John H. Pryor, Elizabeth M. Jeffreys 2006

This volume examines the development and evolution of the war galley known as the Dromon, and its relative, the Chelandion, from first appearance in the sixth century until its supercession in the twelfth century by the Galea developed in the Latin West. Beginning as a small, fully-decked, monoreme galley, by the tenth century the Dromon had become a bireme, the pre-eminent war galley of the Mediterranean. The salient features of these ships were their two-banked oarage system, the spurs at their bows which replaced the ram of classical antiquity, their lateen sails, and their primary weapon: Greek Fire. The book contextualizes the technical characteristics of the ships within the operational history of Byzantine fleets, logistical problems of medieval naval warfare, and strategic objectives. Surviving Byzantine sources, especially tactical manuals, are subjected to close literary and phiological analysis.

20. Historical Dictionary of the People's Republic of China - by Lawrence R. Sullivan 2007

This dictionary is a handy tool for students of the history of the People's Republic of China. It contains information on most things one needs to know about the PRC. The selection of the entries demonstrates a thorough familiarity with the People's Republic and an acquaintance with western literature in this area since World War II. The facts in the vast majority of the entries are carefully weighed and the data are, by and large, accurate. For the most part, interpretations are objective and well balanced, reflecting the author's erudition and honesty. These qualities are essential for any reputable scholarship. One should also admire the author's conscientious and consistent use of the Pingyin system to render Chinese proper nouns. It avoids the unnecessary confusion over Chinese names and saves the user much time.

21. George Washington's Secret Navy - by ames L. Nelson 2008

In 1775 General George Washington secretly armed a handful of small ships and sent them to sea against the world's mightiest navy.
From the author of the critically acclaimed Benedict Arnold's Navy, here is the story of how America's first commander-in-chief--whose previous military experience had been entirely on land--nursed the fledgling American Revolution through a season of stalemate by sending troops to sea. Mining previously overlooked sources, James L. Nelson's swiftly moving narrative shows that George Washington deliberately withheld knowledge of his tiny navy from the Continental Congress for more than two critical months, and that he did so precisely because he knew Congress would not approve.

Mr. Nelson has taken an episode that occupies no more than a few paragraphs in other histories of the Revolution and, with convincing research and vivid narrative style, turned it into an important, marvelously readable book."
--Thomas Fleming, author of The Perils of Peace: America's Struggle to Survive after Yorktown

"A gripping and fascinating book about the daring and heroic mariners who helped George Washington change the course of history and create a nation. Nelson wonderfully brings to life a largely forgotten but critically important piece of America's past."
--Eric Jay Dolin, author of Leviathan: The History of Whaling in America

"The political machinations are as exciting as the blood-stirring ship actions in this meticulously researched story of the shadowy beginnings of American might on the seas."
--John Druett, author of Island of the Lost: Shipwrecked at the Edge of the World

22. Historical Dictionary of U.S. Diplomacy from the Civil War to World War I - by Kenneth J. Blume 2005

This book includes an introductory essay outlining main themes and problems of the era, a chronology of main events, and over 1,000 separate cross-referenced dictionary entries exploring all aspects of American Diplomacy. Additionally, appendixes providing lists of presidents; secretaries of state, war, and navy; all American diplomatic ministers and ambassadors, and most U.S. consuls are included. A photographic section with images of significant individuals and locations and a massive bibliography that is essential due to the neglect of literature on the epoch until recent decades conclude this work.

23. Eye for an Eye - by William Ian Miller 2007

Analyzing the law of the talion--an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth--literally, William Ian Miller presents an original meditation on the concept of "pay back". Miller's unique theory of justice offers redemption via retaliation. It espouses the view that revenge is a highly structured phenomenon that requires a deep commitment to balance in order to get even in a strict but fair manner. As a result, we find that much of what is assumed to be justice, honor and respect is just a way of providing a means of balancing or measuring valuations. Moreover, according to its biblical roots, the law of the talion implies that the value of an eye can only be matched with another eye, suggesting that body parts are to be considered units of valuation. Pursuing this further, the talion seems to require such parts as a preferred means of payment. Thus body parts have a justified claim not only as money, but as the most valued type of payment as well--by uniquely fulfilling the most demanding (and thus most honorable) means of compensation. Applying this concept to the real world, Miller argues that Shylock's pound of flesh wager can be justified circumstantially in The Merchant of Venice and that blood oaths effectively ensure the most lasting bonds of trust over time. He also analyzes other societies and cultures, comparing the ancient and seemingly more primitive with their modern counterparts, by gauging the role of the talion, as a means of maintaining honor within them. Sadly, the ancient and more primitive seem to have functioned more righteously, for the most part, because the execution of violent retaliation was tightly controlled by the talion and accordingly limited its excesses. William Ian Miller is the Thomas G. Long Professor of Law at the University of Michigan Law School. He has also taught at Harvard, Yale, Chicago, and the Universities of Bergen and of Tel Aviv. The recipient of a J.D. and a Ph.D. in English, both from Yale, Professor Miller has written other books including Faking It CUP (2003), The Mystery of Courage (2000) and The Anatomy of Disgust (1967).

Reviews

"William Ian Miller has written a marvelous book that I found absolutely riveting. Eye for an Eye succeeds brilliantly in demonstrating that the lex talionis was often meant and taken literally; that it still plays a powerful, if submerged, role in our thinking about revenge and justice today; and that, in practice, it was not nearly as brutal or unfair as other, putatively more civilized ways of dealing with the need for revenge. The book is superbly written and often hilariously funny. I loved it."
-Wendy Doniger, University of Chicago

"In Eye for an Eye William Ian Miller provides a full-bodied defense of retributive justice, of just deserts, and of an explicitly arithmetic approach to right and wrong that counts up the eyes, limbs, bodies, and lives on our various social fields of battle, and seeks to right the scales. Miller shows just how pervasive this drive to account for our rights and wrongs has been in legal history, how deeply we continue to feel it, and how limply inadequate are our modern liberal and utilitarian understandings of justice that try to aggressively to purge this elemental instinct from our law and laws. Provocative, erudite, and sometimes laugh-out-loud funny -- it is also, often, convincing. Where it is not, it is nevertheless successful: Miller tells his stories in such a way as to make palpable just how much we have sacrificed, as we've turned our collective backs on the age-old project of seeking the precise correction of commensurate wrongs."
-Robin West, Georgetown Law Center

"A provocative reminder of the primal passions hidden by sanitized legal theories."

24. Conspiracy to Treason - by Aaron Burr 2001

Aaron Burr remains one of the most darkly compelling figures in early United States history. Best known as the man who killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel at Weehawken, New Jersey, Burr served as a U.S. senator and as Thomas Jefferson's vice president from 1800 to 1804. Before that, he gained a national reputation as a brilliant attorney.

In the first popular book to focus on one of the most intriguing chapters in Burr's long life, historian Buckner F. Melton Jr. explores Aaron Burr's part in one of the most sensational criminal conspiracies in American history. Known as the "Burr Conspiracy," it involved a plan to invade Mexico and set up an independent republic there or, alternately, to get the Western frontiers to cede from the Union and form a separate republic. Although he was ultimately acquitted of the charges against him, Burr was ruined professionally and financially. Melton, who is an acknowledged U.S. constitutional law expert, demystifies the legal issues involved in the case and explores the ethical issues that arose during the trial. He also delves into the relationships lying at the heart of the conspiracy, including those between Burr and Jefferson, Hamilton, and coconspirator General James Wilkinson, commander of the Western United States forces.

25. Captured! The Betty and Barney Hill UFO Experience: The True Story of the World's First Documented Alien Abduction 2007

Today, 46 years after the UFO abduction of Betty and Barney Hill, more and more people are convinced that UFOs are real and their existence is being covered up by the government. If you have doubts or questions about the Hill case or alien experiences in general, Captured! will give you the answers you're searching for.

The 1961 abduction of the Hills stirred worldwide interest, primarily because of the book The Interrupted Journey, the subsequent media coverage, and a 1975 TV movie, The UFO Incident. The case is mentioned in almost all UFO abduction books. It also became a target for debunkers, who still attack it today.

But the complete story of what really happened that day, its effect on the participants, and the findings of investigators has never been told...until now.

In Captured! you'll get an insider's look at the alien abduction, previously unpublished information about the lives of the Hills before and after Barney's death in 1969, their status as celebrities, Betty's experiences as a UFO investigator, and other activities before her death in 2004.

Kathleen Marden, Betty Hill's niece, shares details from her discussions with Betty and from the evidence of the UFO abduction. She also looks at the Hills' riveting hypnosis sessions about their time onboard the spacecraft. The transcripts of these sessions provide insight into the character of the aliens, including their curiosity, their democratic discussions, and their desire to avoid inflicting pain.

In addition, co-author, physicist, and ufologist Stanton T. Friedman, the original civilian investigator of the Roswell Incident, reviews and refutes the arguments of those who have attacked the Hill case, including the star map Betty Hill saw inside the craft and later recreated.

26. The Children of Now: Crystalline Children, Indigo Children, Star Kids, Angels on Earth - by Meg Blackburn Losey 2006

The Children of Now is a groundbreaking work that shows that a large number of kids come into the world bearing inherent gifts that are beyond strange--they are telepathic, understand subtle energies, and/or have amazing psychic abilities. Many of them remember where they were before they came to Earth and often can describe past lives.

Many doctors mislabel them as autistic, ADD, ADHD, or suggest other behavioral difficulties. More than half the time, these doctors are wrong. The Children of Now are not defective--they are differently functional. We are doing ourselves and the world a great disservice by not acknowledging these amazing children and their special gifts.

A surprising percentage of these children carry within themselves wisdom far beyond most adults. The phenomenon is very real, and more and more of these highly evolved children enter our world every day. The Children of Now offers not only genuine stories of many children who have brought amazing talents into our world, but also practical, easy solutions to assist society in supporting and nurturing these gifted--not defective--children and their families, rather than labeling, segregating, and condemning them.

Fascinating to anyone with an open mind, and life-illuminating for parents with these incredible kids, Meg offers detailed answers derived from counseling real kids in real families.

The Children of Now is a must-read for every parent, teacher, caregiver, and child advocate. In it you'll discover:

- Why our children's DNA is different from previous generations'.
- The traits and needs of the Crystalline Children.

34. WISCONSIN MASONIC HANDBOOK: MASONRY AND RELIGION 2004

One of the most crucial areas of concern for Freemasonry is its relationship with
religious groups. It must be made very clear to all such groups that Freemasonry
is not a religion. While the Craft does have an altar, engages in prayer, displays
an open book of Holy Writings upon the altar, requires a belief in Deity and in the
brotherhood of man and expresses the concept of immortality in it's ritual, it does
not have the central features of a religion which are theology, worship and
evangelism.

The purpose of Freemasonry is to help make good men better by encouraging it's
members to follow the teachings of their own religious faith, to support in every
way possible beneficial, civic and charitable causes, to be responsible for their
own moral and ethical conduct, to be examples and teachers for their families and
to treat all other persons regardless of race, religion or national heritage in a just
and ethical manner.

This means then, that Freemasonry supports its members in the practice of their
religious faith.

Some religions may claim that Freemasonry is a religion also but this is not true
and neither is it a substitute for religion nor is it competitive with religion. It is
necessary that Freemasonry provide opportunities for the various religious groups
to understand that the Craft's only purpose is to help make good men better and
that it supports its members in their religious faith. If this is done in an
understanding, gentle and concerned way, the increased knowledge about
Freemasonry will greatly improve the relationship between the various religions
and the Craft.

An excellent method to address this crucial area is for a lodge or several lodges
together to sponsor a Masonry and Religion night, or, as it is sometimes called, a
Clergy and Craft night.

35. 99° of Freemasonry: Turning the Solomon Key - by Henning A. Klövekorn 2006

The body of Freemasons consists of a range of mystical schools
of enlightenment and orders of knighthood, of which three major
‘rites’, the York Rite, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite and the
Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis and Misraim make up the
organisation today.
Like most organisations of this size, age and complexity, there
are varying schools of thought and persuasions, which in Masonry
are termed ‘obediences’. Generally, these can be divided into two:
the traditional movement of England, and the progressive movement
of Europe – principally France.
The English movement has been the largest movement over the
last few centuries, appearing in all continents of the world, largely as
a result of colonial expansion. Although it is the most rapidly declin-
ing Masonic jurisdiction in the world today, it has upheld the bench-
mark of Masonic principles and fostered many innovative leaders and
provided great charity.
The progressive movements, alternatively, although more re-
stricted in numbers and reach, have flourished in recent times, par-
ticularly with the development and recognition of women’s Masonic
orders which marked the progression of the order from a purely fra-
ternal organisation to a worldwide and universal ‘craft’. The ‘Grand
Orients’ alignment to the Charter of Human Rights and other global
humanitarian visions have marked a new epoch in the development
of Freemasonry, from a rigid and exclusive men’s association to a
global network of humanists.
Freemasonry does not have a centralised global leadership. Each
lodge and grand lodge, is a sovereign body. Today there are approxi-
mately 45,000 lodges worldwide with a membership of approximately
four million. Although Freemasonry, as its name suggests, provides
entry into the speculative science of Masonry, it should be under-
stood that, in reality, it is only the front door to a vast and extensive
network of mystical schools, chivalric orders and intellectual societ-
ies.
Freemasonry is an initiatory order. Its principles are conveyed
through initiation, theatrical experience and oratory. Masons are not
appointed or ordained, but evolve through the process of instruction,
initiation and self-discovery. It is therefore one of the last surviving
mystery schools of the world which convey information via ritual
and symbolism.
Masonry aims to construct an interior and exterior temple. The
interior temple is that of the individual, who, through self-discovery,
finds inner meaning, growth and truth. The exterior temple is that of
a common humanity.
The most important element of Freemasonry is that the search
for truth and enlightenment is considered as an individual quest and
development. No person, group, clergy or dogma will restrict the
Masons ability to grow, conceptualise, argue, propose, seek and strive
for individual enlightenment and truth. For this reason, Freemasonry
has always brought together people of differing faiths, and has toler-
ated, indeed welcomed diversity.
Prominent Masonic scholar Illustrious Brother Manly P. Hall, 33°,
provided the following analysis of Freemasonry: “Most of the reli-
gions of the world are like processions; one leads, and the many fol-
low. In the footsteps of the demigods, man follows in his search for
truth and illumination. The Christian follows the gentle Nazarene up
the winding slopes of Calvary. The Buddhist follows his great eman-
cipator through his wanderings in the wilderness. The Mohammedan
makes his pilgrimage across the desert sands to the black tent at Mecca.
Truth leads, and ignorance follows in his train. Spirit blazes the trail,
and matter follows behind. In the world today ideals live but a mo-
ment in their purity, before the gathering hosts of darkness snuff out
the gleaming spark. The Mystery School, however, remains unmoved.
It does not bring its light to man; man must bring his light to it. Ide-
als, coming into the world, become idols within a few short hours,
but man, entering the gates of the sanctuary, changes the idol back to
an ideal … a Mason is a builder of the temple of character.”

36. BROTHERHOOD OF THE ILLUMINATI:MILTON,GALILEO,AND THE POETICS OF CONSPIRACY - by Michael Lieb

I
n his engaging thriller Angels and Demons, Dan Brown
envisions a sinister world of intrigue and conspiracy, danger and duplicity.
8
At the center of this world is a clandestine movement called the Brotherhood
of the Illuminati, putatively one of the most in?uential secret societies in
history.
= The protagonist of the narrative is an internationally recognized
Harvard ‘‘symbologist,’’ Robert Langdon (who also appears in Brown’s later
bestseller, The Da Vinci Code).
= In the earlier novel, Langdon is enlisted by
an organization known as CERN (Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nu-
cléaire) to investigate the assassination of one of its most prominent physi-
cists, Leonardo Vetra, who has discovered the means of harnessing the power
of antimatter. Responsible for the assassination, the Illuminati henchman
makes off with the antimatter and its secrets. The dastardly goal of the
Brotherhood is in effect to destroy the Catholic Church, along with its monu-
ments, by placing a bomb (in the form of the antimatter) in a secret location
in Vatican City. To save the Church as an institution, as well as to apprehend
the assassin, Langdon seeks to discover where the antimatter has been bur-
ied. Racing against time, he and Leonardo Vetra’s daughter Vittoria under-
take a frantic search for the explosive substance. The quest draws upon all of
Langdon’s abilities as a symbologist. Securing the antimatter requires the
consummate task of decoding enigmas, which in Brown’s novel assume the
form of messages left by the Illuminati in its wake. To that end, Langdon and
his companion gain entrance into a secret Vatican vault, where they discover
long-sequestered, occult documents that will provide information on the
Illuminati and its practices. Searching the secret archives, they come upon an
obscure papyrus written by the great astronomer Galileo Galilei while under
house arrest during the Inquisition. Titled Diagramma della Verità, this most
arcane of papyri proves to be the solution to their quest.

37. A Bavarian Illuminati primer - by Trevor W. McKeown

It is difficult, in the modern English-speaking world, to determine
exactly what the Illuminati of Bavaria really was. Although both
John Robison and the Abbé Barruel
published their accusations
and theories in English, the source documents have remained in
their native German. Robison freely admitted that he had scanty
knowledge of German and had derived all his information from
other writers.
Unfortunately neither he nor Barruel were
concerned with providing references for their sources. When they
do quote from the papers and correspondence of the Order as
published by the Bavarian government or the published works of
Adam Weishaupt and Adolph Knigge, they also fail to provide
context or citations.Adam Weishaupt was born February
6, 1748 at Ingolstadt and educated
by the Jesuits. His appointment as
Professor of Natural and Canon Law
at the University of Ingolstadt in
1775, a position previously held by
one of the recently disbanded
Jesuits,
gave, it is said, great
offence to the clergy. "Weishaupt,
whose views were cosmopolitan, and
who knew and condemned the
bigotry and superstitions of the
Priests, established an opposing
party in the University...."
Weishaupt was not then a
freemason; he was initiated into a
Lodge of Strict Observance, Lodge
Theodore of Good Council (Theodor
zum guten Rath), at Munich in 1777.

40. Freemasonry Victoria - by Robert Reid 2009

We describe Freemasonry as a
moral society, an organization
that takes good men and makes them
better, but what does this actually
mean? By what criterion do we
measure men and to what standard
do we hold them in order to judge
their morality?
The three degrees of Freemasonry
can be thought of as representing
the three stages of human life - the
1st
degree in which we learn to
understand the world , the 2nd
in which
we learn how to be men and the 3rd
in
which we learn how to face whatever
may lie beyond our mortality.
The 2nd
degree Working Tools teach
us to practice harmony in our daily
lives, to promote human equality
and to pursue our betterment by
education.
These principles of Brotherly
Love, Relief and Truth appear in
short supply in society at large. We
demonstrate to each other what we
believe is acceptable behavior, in
the way we ourselves behave. If we
are impatient, curt, selfish and rude
how can we expect to be treated with
anything but the same lack of respect?
If we are polite, think before we speak
and consider others before ourselves,
our example will spread.
The simplest of ways to demonstrate
the principles of Freemasonry then
is to treat everyone we meet as we
would our brother. Simply by acting
as we are instructed in the 2nd
degree
we become examples not only of
Masonic dignity and honor but of the
nobler instincts of humanity.

41. THE VATICAN'S FINANCES - by Monsenor Rafael Rodriguez Guillen

Without money no institution can function. A mighty
gentleman is Don Money, and all pride and power, all
arrogance and dominance flaunted by the Catholic
ecclestiastical hierarchy rests upon her formidable,
worlwide economic power. As I'll demonstrate in this
documented study, the base and pride of Catholic priests,
cardinals, bishops, and of the whole body of Vatican
functionaries are the Vatican's finance's. If you look into
the bank accounts, properties, and the dolche vitta (i.e.
sweet life) of luxurious trips and high class living in the
cities and towns enjoyed by these filthy rich, well versed
Merchant politicians of hypocritical conscience, who claim
to be the representatives of Christ's church on earth., but
who are nothing by altar Christ who deceive their flocks
with their scholastic philosophy, you will see the reality
that they have brainwashed us, imposed the lie as the truth,
and made us believe black for white never mind that they
are contradicting the very laws of nature. It's possible that
you will consider or label me an exaggerator or liar. But I
am an honest doctor, monsignor and priest who served this
degenerate instution for fifty years in the most diverse
ecclestiastical charges. And my living experiences and
documentation have cused me to come to the conclusions
which my writings demonstrates. So if you think , I am an
apostate, renegade, or heretic who is lying, think again,
because it's not like you assume. I am not
excommunicated, and neither have they been able to
excommunicate me, because I still have my sacerdotal
licence even though I have had to take them to the courts
to make them respect my human rights and do me justice.
Thousands of priests who have willed to reform so much
corruption and to obey the teachings of Jesus Christ,
whose church is not of this world, but is celestial and
spiritual, have been excommunicate, defamed in the
presence of society, and slandered unmercifully. And
they have realized the deceit and brainwashing that they
suffered in the Trident Seminaries.
The documentation that I present on the finances of the
Vatican, or of the Political state of National Catholicism,
demonstrates that the Vatican and her churches can no
longer justify her claim of representing Christian values
in any way, shape, or form. Her interests are others. Not
the salvation of souls. Her bad examples and finances and
morals, preaching "do what I say and not as I do," are
now manifest to all.
In the new democracies, there now exists a hope of
correcting and reforming the millennial abuses and
outrages of this most dangerous and economically
powerful sect existing upon the face of the earth. I must
warn that the truth about the Vatican's finances can only
be found in the writings of those impartial Vatican
historians and true Christians (whom they call sects or
Protestants to discredit them), whose documentation
exists not in Spanish, but in English only, I have been
able to document myself in the United States, so you will
be able to know the truth about the Vatican's finances.
Because Catholic writers, Jesuits, etc, have taken it upon
themselves to prohibit and include in the Index of
prohibited books to Catholics all those writers who are
not censured and/or approved with the bishop's nihil
obstat imprimatur. I have believed and still believe that I
will be able to open and arouse the consciences of
millions of my Catholic brothers and sisters who, as this
servant, have been deceived, so that they will cease to
contribute treasury, where, you will analyze, the financial
corruption mercantilism, and dominance that for
centuries has monopolized the Vatican dwells.

47. Masks of the Illuminati - by Robert Anton Wilson 1981

It had better be stated here and now at the outset that the weird and unscientific
thinking typical in different ways of both Joyce and Babcock was entirely alien to Professor
Einstein's well-disciplined mentations. A black camel beneath a horned moon might be an
omen of almost anything and everything to either Joyce or Babcock, but it was a domesticated
mammal conjunct to the burned-out satellite of a type-G star to science.
As he listened intently to Sir John Babcock's wondrous tale, Einstein occasionally
allowed a quiet smile to break upon his lips -- the reflex of an evolutionary past in which furry
ancestors similarly bared their teeth at the sight of food; but it was the meat of pure thought
that inspired the typical anthropoid grin in this case, the marvelous (albeit blind) processes of
evolution have produced a brain, in advanced human beings such as Einstein, capable of
hungering and thirsting after Truth itself.
Science, it cannot be too often repeated, deals with actual readings of actual
instruments, while permitting only the most economical descriptions of the phenomenon
recorded. It is permissible, of course, to posit certain gedankenexperiments (thought
experiments), thereby deducing from known laws the necessary consequences of hypothetical
situations. Within an interstellar elevator, for instance, the gravitational equations of Sir Isaac
Newton will appear to be obeyed, as indicated by all instruments, thereby leading physicists
within the elevator to posit the Newtonian explanation of their observations. To a physicist
outside the elevator, however, the same data will be explained by the law of inertia. This line
of thought had been amusing and perplexing Professor Einstein for some time now, but he
determined to set it aside and concentrate his analytical powers upon the Gothic novel in
which Sir John Babcock evidently lived and in which occult forces were more prevalent than
scientific laws.
There is, he began to see, a principle of neurological relativism, as well as of physical
relativism. Just as he became a new Albert Einstein by rejecting his citizenship and the God of
his people, Sir John had changed his nervous system by these so-called occult exercises.
Yes: my two observers trying to measure a moving rod while they are themselves
moving at differing velocities. That is the relativism of the instrument. But take, let us say, a
man who is a Russian vegetarian pacifist and a woman who is an Italian Catholic conservative,
each trying to understand Sir John's story. None of it will mean the same to both of them. That
is the relativism of consciousness, of the nervous system itself.

48. The Reptoid Hypothesis: Utopian and Dystopian Representational Motifs in David Icke’s Alien Conspiracy Theory - by TYSON LEWIS AND RICHARD KAHN

Alien reptilian invasions, blood-sucking, pedophilic Illuminati agents acting as totalitarian
world leaders, trans-dimensional alien-humans interbreeding to support a program of cosmic
imperialism on an unimaginable scale--no, this is not an X-Files episode, neither is it an
undiscovered Philip K. Dick or H.P. Lovecraft novel, nor is it the latest Hollywood science
fiction spectacle. Rather, it is the real-life and ever-evolving conspiracy theory of the self-
proclaimed “most controversial speaker and author in the world,” David Icke. Icke, one-time
British soccer star turned BBC sports personality turned UK Green Party spokesman, is now
today’s most (in)famous proponent of what we are calling the “Reptoid Hypothesis”--the idea
that alien lizards conspiratorially control the Earth and with it human destiny. Inasmuch as the
reptoid, a figure of radical difference--what we have termed “UFOtherness”--also takes on
decidedly animal overtones, we will seek in this paper to examine how Icke’s narrative stands
today as representative evidence of a popular dystopianism that projects onto the animal (as
cause) the sum total of the fear and discontent that have arisen around contemporary issues such
as global imperialism and transnational capitalism. Yet, a closer investigation of Icke’s theory
also suggests that utopian readings of his work are possible in which it is theorized that the end
to global domination can be arrived at only via the formation of new human/reptoid alliances
toward peace. In this paper we will attempt to unravel these various layers of ambiguity, arguing
that Icke’s theory simultaneously represents a progressive desire for the construction of a holistic
animal/human future and a reactionary attitude that is unable (or unwilling) to overcome the
fetters of capitalist spectacle and conservative conceptualizations of liberal-humanist subjectivity.

49. WHERE WERE YOU BEFORE THE TREE OF LIFE? The True History of the Darkness and of the Light - VOLUME TWO:The Sapling - By Peter R. Farley

The Men from Orion are the agents of what Barbara Clow terms “the big lie”—that Orion has engaged
in a program of seeding walk-ins—Orion robots—on Earth.
“The Men from Orion have decided to commence their third battle, which is going on right now. The
Men in Black are tempted to trigger humans into nuclear conflict in order to gain ultimate control. The
pollution of the earth and the paralysis of well-meaning people is a behavior pattern from the first two wars
in this solar system. For these Men in Black, who are true fallen angels, this is their third and last knock . . .
If they make the conditions on Earth bad enough, no one but themselves will be left on Earth, for beings
from Orion can tolerate high levels of radiation because the stars there are extremely dense. Orion immune
systems are very strong, since their low level of vibration enables them to tolerate the typical modern diet
and exposure to pollution and toxic chemicals. And, since their agenda is negative, the Men in Black are
not agonized about the genocide of the species.”
“In the last battle . . . crystals were implanted in the etheric bodies of people by the Orion Atlanteans. .
.The crystals are implanted with a variety of interesting programs . . . The Men from Orion knew that Earth
would undergo another struggle at this point between the positive and negative forces. Therefore, many of
the key crystals were programmed to help their cause. The end phase of the plan is to bring in walk-ins
from Orion in order to use the crystals to maximum advantage.”
The Men from Orion are an unusual life form, not really humanoid at all. They resemble more of a
machine in their anatomical structure, and their appearance as we think of Atlanteans being the red race, is
more a copperish-red color. This is the archetype of Mars—the red planet. Clow says in one of her works
that the Atlanteans are “the metal people who came from the stars.” The machine-like men in the movie
The Matrix are archetypal Orions, shape-shifters.
In the Epic of Gilgamesh, one of the earliest pieces of literature from Sumeria, the hero Gilgamesh is
given a ‘mechanical-type’ friend named Enkidu by the gods, similar to what we might think of as a robot.
This Being, however, is a biological entity—not a machine. This would be more like one of the Men from
Orion. The Terminator series of movies starring Arnold Schwarzenegger are a remembrance of the
Mars/Maldek war and of the Men from Orion.
These Beings were greatly into experimenting on the nature of matter, using the knowledge they had
acquired from the Alteans, those who were specialists in the ‘nature of matter’. Their main pursuit was for
more powerful and deadly forms of weaponry. Do you see a parallel here, too? It was because of this
experimentation and the weaponry they were able to build that the war between Maldek and Mars was so
effective in destroying one planet and rendering the other planet lifeless.

50. TRUE CIVILISATION - BY JOSIAH WARREN 1863

The present condition of our country, and of many
other parts of the world, calls out and places before us, as
in a panorama, whatever there is of thought; whatever
there has been of progress or retrogression, and displays
to us at a simple glance, as it were, the present state of
civilization in so vivid a manner that we are enabled to
weigh and estimate what we have and what we need with
a degree of certainty that, in a state of repose, no one's
lifetime might enable him to measure; and which may
reasonably inspire even the humble with a boldness
suited to the time, and with a hope that discoveries
indispensable to true civilization, that could scarcely
gain a single ear while the adversities of life could be
borne, may now receive some attention where all
confidence in the tried is lost.

51. THE ILLUMINATI MILLENNIUM RITUALS by Arizona Wilder 2008

Arizona Wilder conducted human sacrifice rituals for the Illuminati elite for decades. These included the
British Royal Family, George Bush, Henry Kissinger, and a stream of world famous names revealed in
"The Biggest Secret" and the video, "Revelations of a Mother Goddess",
Since she escaped from her mind controlled confinement, she has dedicated herself
to exposing what is happening. I received this letter from her dated May 25th 1999
in which she details the key points in the Illuminati ritual programme running up to
the Millennium.

I should emphasize a few things for those who have not read "The Biggest Secret."
The Illuminati, the clique which control the direction of the world, are genetic
hybrids, the result of interbreeding between a reptilian extraterrestrial race and
humanity many thousands of years ago. The centre of power is not even in this
dimension -- it is in the lower fourth dimension, the lower astral as many people
call it, the traditional home for the "demons" of folklore and myth. These fourth
dimensional reptilian entities work through these hybrid bloodlines because they have a vibrational
compatibility with each other. This is why the European royal and aristocratic families have interbred so
obsessively, as do the so called Eastern Establishment families of the United States which produce the
leaders of America. Every presidential election since and including George Washington in 1789 has been
won by the candidate with the most European royal genes. Of the 42 presidents to Bill Clinton, 33 have
been genetically related to two people, Alfred the Great, King of England, and Charlemagne, the most
famous monarch of what we now call France. It is the same wherever you look in the positions of power..
they are the same tribe!

As well as an obsession with interbreeding with each other to preserve their genetic structure, the
Illuminati are also obsessed with symbolism and ritual. Interestingly, conventional science has
documented that the reptilian part of the human brain (the R complex as they call it) is the source of the
following behavior traits: An obsession w
