Sure, it is possible, but it seems statistically unlikely since a bloodline from prehistoric times down to modern day require a large population base in order to off-balance the number of non-reproducing individuals. The large population would be hard to hide.
But how about Pandas ?
If one do research about the history of finding the firsts Pandas, it is unavoidable to wonder about Big Foot...
Pandas are diurnal, slow, stupid, noisy and to not try to avoid to be found. Even so it took decades of efforts of the the best "Indianas" to catch one !
