Based on Joel Bakan’s bestseller The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power, this 26-award-winning documentary explores a corporation’s inner workings, curious history, controversial impacts and possible futures.

One hundred and fifty years ago, a corporation was a relatively insignificant entity. Today, it is a vivid, dramatic, and pervasive presence in all our lives. Like the Church, the Monarchy and the Communist Party in other times and places, a corporation is today’s dominant institution. Charting the rise of such an institution aimed at achieving specific economic goals, the documentary also recounts victories against this apparently invincible force.

I remember seeing this in the movie theatre when it first came out. It's an important documentary and has been uploaded here a few times over the years.

When I seen this a few years ago I found it a real eye opener. There is a follow up documentary "The New Corporation" being released later this month - that should be an interesting one to watch.

Promoted this movie very heavy when it first came out, and looking forward to the "sequel" (follow-up) documentary:

The New Corporation: The Unfortunately Necessary Sequel
ABOUT THE PROJECT: From Joel Bakan and Jennifer Abbott, filmmakers of the multi-award-winning global hit, The Corporation, comes this hard-hitting and timely sequel.

SYNOPSIS: THE NEW CORPORATION reveals how the corporate takeover of society is being justified by the sly rebranding of corporations as socially conscious entities. From gatherings of corporate elites in Davos, to climate change and spiralling inequality; the rise of ultra-right leaders to Covid-19 and racial injustice, the film looks at corporations' devastating power. Countering this is a groundswell of resistance worldwide as people take to the streets in pursuit of justice and the planet's future.
In the face of spiralling inequality, climate change, and the hollowing out of democracy THE NEW CORPORATION is a cry for social justice, deeper democracy, and transformative solutions."

"social justice" has been co-opted and perverted by the gen-z, millennial, snowflake, fem-nazi, neo-marxist cabal unfortunately, so hopefully this "sequel" will follow its predecessor and not be co-oped but the feely-weeny generation: Funny, music video to illustrate the point -- https://streamable.com/m7a6u2

Hopefully the directors of the film will not mind one of us sharing it with our small community here!
