milk alternatives

the past few years i have had some stomach problems and was previously diagnosed with spastic Bowel aka irritable bowel syndrome.
Now having been a milk lover since childhood and seeing milk as the grooviest drink around..... this blinded me to one simple fact.
the greater the milk intake the greater the stomach problems and the occasional need for a respirator.
I have tried soy milk.. which is FUCKING DISGUSTING... i'll be having no more of that crap.
Also tried almond milk... actually quite nice, hazelnut milk... not for everyday drinking but i think good for cereals and puddings and the latest one is a coconut milk thing called coconut dream(coconut and rice concoction) which is also very nice indeed.
anyone else got any recommendations that aren't as rank as that atrocious soy milk and perhaps on a good taste level with the almond and coconut?
I've even been toying with the idea of making my own as it seems simple enough.... the only bar really is price as Almonds seem to be quite expensive in Scotland per kilo raw.

have you tried lactosis free

have you tried lactosis free milk or goat milk.
often it is the pasturized cow milk that creates problems
rice milk and oat milk is also doable.

I have not tried hemp milk
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemp_milk

I have also seen horse and camel milk in my local ecoshop
as with the goat milk, lactosis free

look for the alpro brand, guaranteed gmo free tasty soy, almond and hazelnut milks

Goat Milk

Yes, Pax.

Try goat milk, that's a lot easier to digest.

And take a look at this very interesting thread:

cheers

cheers guys, i tried goat milk and wasn't too fond.. not that it's horrid... just a case of almond milk is an asssload tastier..lol
will goat cheese a go as i do miss my cheese for sure.
The stuff i use is the Alpro doc, their soy is avtually more pallatable than other brands to ve fair.
The almond milk is fucking superb..love it.
Hazelnut is fine with cereal and coffee but not to sip on it's own.. even stoned i thought the flavour of bit on the strong side for me for a drink to sip like i use to drink cows milk. As I said though, with cereal it's mighty tasty.

Hemp milk is a drink made from hemp seeds

Doc.. the thought of assisting anyone in preventing a hemp seed growing into stoner goodness is beyond me... just think how many potential jopints you arte killing in just one glassful! ! :P LOL

trying to find places locally that sell any decent variety of this stuff and that don@t ask you to bend over and splay yer cheeks at the till is another thing.
But i'll see if i can find the oat and rice varieties.
I am fairly sure when i looked at the label of that coconut dream stuff it had rice milk for sure and another milk in with the coco-nutty goodness... it was very sugar filled though.
cheers for the responses... i might even have a go of making oat milk... i live in Scotland...we have lots of oats.. fuck we make porridge with it and porridge isn't just tasty (no suger yah jessies!!! salt and milk only.. even at that... milk is a concession) ... anyway I'll give the oats a go tomorrow in fact as i have 2 kilos of the fuckers so i can sort that one quickly and post results...
now i am going to go and finish the stoning process :)

milk help

I thought I was lactose intolerant for years. I found that I was antibiotic intolerant. Monsanto makes cow food with steroids and antibiotics. You will be able to digest milk without it, if you can find it. Good luck.

Milk Alternatives

Just grow up and stop using milk - of any kind. No other creature on this planet consumes milk once it is weaned, and for very good reason. Nor do they consume the milk of other creatures. Only stupid humans compromise their health and shorten their lives by ingesting toxic protein.

I am well aware of what's what with milk, especially after someone posted this at the old site
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctpfTTbHNmg#t=15
i watched, listened and recognised these symptoms.. went to the doctor and it got confirmed.
I have no requirement for some "heid-the-baw" such as yourself to spew their opinion at me....
BTW what part of almonds don't have nipples don't you get?
what part of milk alternatives don't you get?

rockfish I am fairly sure there are no antibiotics/steroids allowed into cattle feed in my country, in the same way i know we do not add lanolin to it as America commonly does.
I will double check that but I am fairly sure what we sell here is unfucked with under Scottish and E.U laws.
from what i gather our normal milk would sell as "organic" in America and the organic stuff here would be an equivelant to.. and i couldn't stop laughing when i saw milk labelled as this in Denver.. "Artisan Milk" .... I just thought.. "Well!" and chuckl3ed to myself for quite some time.. that's Denver for you though ;)

This is a ridiculous comment.

This is a ridiculous comment. Frankly I'm sick of hearing this narrative.

No other animal wears clothes, so we should all stop wearing clothes.

No other animals drinks a cup of tea, or coffee. So we should all stop drinking cups of tea and coffee.

No other animal cooks their food, so we should all stop cooking our food.

So I hope from now on that you eat all of your meat raw, never have tea or coffee again, and no cooked vegetables either. Enjoy those raw potatoes.

Or, you can abstain from this crazy narrative that you have fallen for.

oatmilk!

really easy to make.. no need for a nut mil bag/cheese cloth.
used 250 grams of scots oats, 750ml water, 1teaspoon of vanilla, 4 teapsoons of glucose powder and about half a teaspoon of salt.
fucking tasty.
not as tasty as alpro almond milk however a tiny fraction of the cost.
Gonna try and mate rice milk tomorrow!

Soybean is used to fatten

Soybean is used to fatten meat animals, it blocks the thyroid. It does the same thing for us.

Coconut is good according to Ray Peat:

Cashew Milk

As much as I like dairy, it just doesn't agree with me. I have a Vitamix and I love that thing. I was making my own almond milk for a while, and I'm nit picking here, but I don't like having to strain it. Then cashew milk came out. I was going to buy some, but I just so happened to have had a bunch of cashews. I have to saw that I love cashew milk. It's a lot creamier than any of the other nut milks. It also requires no straining. Just blend one cup with about four cups of water for about sixty seconds. It's pretty good and lasts for about three days.

pax
nice one!

got a vitamix not long ago.. holy shit they kick ass!
I'll get some cashews tomorrow. there's a store locally that sells nuts in bulk at non rip off rates so i'll head in there and get some.

I was going to mention cashew milk...

Glad someone did. Also try cashew butter, but watch out because it's so good it's addictive! You may end up spreading it on everything and everyone!

update

well it's turning out to be not just lactose intolerance.
been seeing a garto-intestinal specialist and am getting a camera in both ends . appointment to follow.
here's hoping they do the mouth first eh?
potentials being looked at are Crohn's disease.. usually diagnosed much earlier however, saying that, a mate of mine was diagnosed with it at aged 44 a few years ago.
Celiac, which some members of my family have so that's also a possibility.
but we'll see.
i'll have a look for cashew butter.
Tried cashew milk.. fucking delicous!
good to know it doesn't to me what bloody soy milk does....you could plug me into a methane based power station and i would power a city the size of Glasgow :P

Whatever you do, seek alternative advice before making any rash decisions. These people seem to love cutting out bits of our bodies when it's not necessary.

Don't forget that these are really symptoms of an underlying problem, not diseases as they love to call them. The underlying cause must be found out. In these cases it's pretty much always because of bad gut flora. Antiseptic mouthwash will kill off beneficial flora and allow nasty stuff to take over and wreak havoc. Antibiotics will also devastate gut bacteria, leaving room for the nasties...

Be careful - I heard it's illegal to spread on and eat off of your significant other! Resist all temptation!!
