Tells you a lot about the myth of the urban area keeping an eye on neighbours, lonliness in modern networked England and probably the myth of multi-culturalism... latter point i can't recall - think she's half cast from memory. Even if she isn't - the way mass immigration has fucked up populated areas means it'll play a role.
A lot of my old friends were addicts and didn't even get to die alone under a roof.... don't see any film students or the BBC running to cover their stories.

The men around her were emotionally retarded. It was obvious in the last 2 years of her life that she was trying to settle down with a man. And her sisters? Something doesn't add up.
