This is what happens when you
This is what happens when you ban gun ownership....
The UK is rampant with youthful idiots carrying knives... the other week i got in a cab in a town 5 miles from where i live and the taxi driver had a machete in the passenger footwell :-P ?!
guns aren't totally banned in the UK at all
You must have a license and to get one you get background checks, criminal record checks and have to get some training.
The guns you can get are limited. i have a shotgun license(Benelli M4 semi auto - unlimited capacity as i hold a full firearms certificate)) and a license for a .22 rifle(Beretta ARX 160 .22 semi auto)) and a .22 pistol(kinda lol a GSG 1911 long-barrel workaround weapon..lol_
if you think it's a good idea to let any fucker buy a firearm then that's just fucking ludicrous.
I am pro gun but also VERY pro training, licensing and license conditions as well as background checks. I don't want some utter fuckball muppet with access to firearms, i don't want I want people to be checked to make sure no psycho nutbars get guns, no guns for people with criminal records (minor traffic offences matter not a jot), make proper training part of the licensing procedure with regular testing. train on cleaning and maintenance and regular range time
As a veteran i have seen what guns do a lot of time. i would go as far as making an annual range test part of it showing stripping, cleaning and assembly, shooting, dealing with stoppages, safe handling safe storage and all that good stuff.
You can if you want buy a .50 cal but it can only be fired at certain ranges due to.. well.. it's a fucking .50 cal. so large enough ranges with the right facilities isn't easy to come by in the uk.
any single shot rifle is not an issue not matter the calibre.
I don't want people carrying in the UK, it would be fucking insane to have open/concealed carry here. why? i don't trust any fucker on the streets with one... police included from that with few exceptions(1 i served with and two who are members of the shooting club i am a member of)
I also just got my firearms license for Malta so will be going over soon to get some weapons where there is erm.. rather more choice So it'll be an L1A1 with L2A2 SUIT, an MP4 and either a Barret M82A1 or an Accuracy International AX50. Maltese licensing is very good imho with training and certification in handling, cleaning, assembling, storage etc and regular range days along with background checks but more choice of weapons with pre 1950 fully auto's legal for example. The weapons are also very well priced there and the gun ownership rate is VERY high in Malta and i cannot remember the last time there was a guin crime there tbh there have been two gun crimes where people were murdered since 1990 if i remember correctly.
I just shoot targets(bench resting) and clays(not often). bench rest shooting is very very zen.
but anyway gun ownership aint banned in the uk but it is licensed and you can buy quite a variety of weapons of varying calibres(single shot) and types
I have a lot to ask you on
I have a lot to ask you on this topic and a few things to say....
So I'm aware of how UK ppl CAN have a weapon/firearm - I have a long term friend who has both shotgun and the other stage of license... last time I met him I asked jokingly:
"So I bet you'll say you own an Armalite wotsit" - that popular rifle that was on loan apparently by the brave guy in the Kenosha BLM demos... he rightly defended himself and shot a hole in the arm of one of the idiots who came at him with a skateboard... AR 15 ??
And i was shocked he said YES. He lives in fucking Norfolk - with one acre of land and he legally owns an AR15!!
Anyway - my issue was more about how the ban on hand-guns came about - which I know a fair bit about having been friends with a certain ambulance staff member many years ago...
I may PM you Pax...

On that point - I should add I have 2 minor poilce records/convictions - both are years ago and dr*gs based - is this a no chance situation with this do you think??

Manual action only
In the UK. The tightening of gun laws were brought about by the Hungerford massacre and the Dunblane school shooting.
Both horrible fucking cases of nutbars with guns. They didn't really have to ban those weapon types , they just had to ramp up the background checks to also include checking in with the doctor if the applicant.
Wasn't one of the antifa wanks a known convicted nonce?
I am pretty sure the hand gun ban was specifically cause by the Dunblane school massacre.
My weapons are at the gun club armoury. I only have them in my cabinet if I am going to a range farther away. If I remember rightly Andy Murray (Scottish tennis champ)was a pupil at the school at the time.
The public reaction was very strong and the govt over did it quite a bit 8n dealing with it in a similar way to the reaction to Hungerford 8n that they banned the weapons type and made it manuals only.
Also they had to fix was changed the license conditions with regards to checks to see if you are a raging fucking nutbar with annual checks with yer doctor at part of the license conditions.
But the govt wants to been seen "doing things to appear strong but only really for votes™" or they monitise an issue f on r steady income target than fixing an issue... See UK controlled parking zones(council) litter, low emission zones, all that shite.. they care more for the income than the result or the fixing of anything
Wasn't one of the antifa
*OK - fixed markup for quotes. We live n learn.*
Actually I believe out of the four idiot types that tackled the guy I mentioned - 2 or three had some record in that area....
I don't care too much on that front - it was more how they wanted to attack a guy that FFS was seemingly [if they'd paid attention] on a neutral level - offering FIRST AID TO ALL SIDES - but the fucking retards still went after him.... i'd say they were spiritually pretty "ARMless" before the incident given their brain cell count - but after one of them certainly ended up ARMLESS in many respects :-p
Indeed - and that's the timeframe and event I spent a long time looking into YEARS back - despite having zero firearms interest [aside from loving clay pigeon shooting] at that point.
However I have now years old material on that area that is actually scarier to than the weirdity of the main other issue that most my life has been chaotically embedded with.
OK - and this is what my friend with the Armalite AR told me when I said : "well I'm a prole with no land to claim I can shoot a shotgun on to get a license agreed" - he said I should join a gun club near me - but then THE FIREARM IS KEPT AT THE CLUB ususally - which for me totally defeats the point...
Son Pax do you only shoot at combined club venues and occasions??

I go shooting at ranges around the UK , Malta and italy.
i am not saying where, i am not posting pictures of my weapons. the weapons pics could doxx me. they are quite modified(legally) and thus quite distinct as could the ranges i visit with certain weapons.
if you are Uk based those drugs convictions will mean you won't get firearms certification unless they are spent and also depending on what they were for specifically. just because they are spent , doesn't mean they can't see them and have legally approved access to them and use those in forming decisions about your suitability to be licensed..
it also depends, i think, on what level.. was it simple possession or dealing of any kind?
very full background checks are run with doctor, employers and people you know. and what they say is taken into account.
I know a guy who should have got his certification however his boss at the time didn't give the best reference apparently calling him "careless and stupid". the guy is not careless or stupid but... His extremely recent ex GF also SHAT on him huge and thus the poor fucker didn't get his certification for another TEN YEARS . he tried every two years till he got approved.
So basically if you have pissed off anyone that they might speak to as part of the background checks.
Ex-Military do tend to get more approvals thana civvy.
Do you understand that you HAVE to store it clean and unloaded in an approved cabinet/case bolted to the floor and wall? and that ammunition has to be stored in a separate cabinet or in the case of double sided cabinets then different locks for each. you CANNOT keep a weapon under your bed or any of that wankery.
they will come and spot check you and you must let them as part of your license conditions.
you fuck around on that they will will remove yer weapons and your certification will be revoked and maybe some charges of stuff related to incorrect storage of firearms and if you leave one around loaded expect to be bending over for Big Bubba for a few years and Bubba thinks your tears make the best lubricant.
OK - thx for that feedback..
OK - thx for that feedback... I'll continue with my process of getting my police record for the form filling process - it's not as clear cut as you'd think regards "spent" convictions.... seems to vary with the wind.
My point was not so much about security and being a good gun handler - it's to what extent joining a shooting club is helpful for the application AND if stored safely - why taking your weapon to your house, using a storeage locker - is seen as "not the done thing" compared to leaving say your only shotgun at the club venue where you safelt shoot and meet at?? :-p
-
i didn't say
it was clear cut and there was no intention of inferring that.
they are getting stricter about stuff now. the only times your weapons should be out the cabinet is to go to the range/club or for cleaning.
It's easier to leave yer weapons there and for licensing purposes it means you are much, much less of a risk of using them in robbery, execution or shooting spree.. pretty simple really.
I do have a cabinet at home that exceeds the required standard and that's only if i am going to ranges farther away than a 4 hour journey away. in that case i go to the club the night before get my weapons and maybe ammo if i don't have any at home and then take them with me in their cases early in the a.m to travel. when travelling they are in the boot of the car in their secure cases(4 digit number locks plus very heavy duty padlock).
also remember if you join a club, they will be consulted in your certification procedure.
So it's a good thing but could either work for you work against you depending on you. There will probably also be serving and ex police officers are members and there will DEFFO be plenty of ex military as members so if you can't cope with ex servicemen ...ooch and if you can't ignore the fact there are police there and those guys are , as a general rule, bellends. And they are always analysing every fucker for didginess. they get so used to being a policeman and dealing with many cunts who try all sorts of bullshit then default to the supposition that you are dodgy. a fair few are just cunty ,back stabby manginas who jizz themselves when they fuck people about and do it for that jizz
at my club none of the police guys are in positions where they can affect me at the club level but remember that all they have to do is have a whisper in the ear of the licensing Sgt/Inspector and that *could* affect your license status.
