If you like Baraka and Samsara, check out Ron Fricke's earlier work, Chronos. Filmed in dozens of locations on five continents, the film relates to the concept of time passing on different scales—the bulk of the film covers the history of civilization, from pre-history to Egypt to Rome to Late Antiquity to the rise of Western Europe in the Middle Ages to the Renaissance to the modern era. It centers on European themes but not exclusively. Other time scales include the passing of seasons, and the passing of night and day, and the passing shadows of the sun in an afternoon to the passing of people on the street. These themes are intermingled with symbolic meaning.
Bit hard to find so sharing here. Well worth the download.

Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. I am a big fan of Baraka. I found that on VHS years ago and have loved it ever since. All the other films by Fricke and Reggio are also very worthwhile...

I had never heard of that one
I had never heard of that one. But even PassThePopcorn doesn't have it, so it must be really hard to find!

When you remove the creator name from the title it does not allow one to quickly parse the context. In my view, that is required metadata to view at a glance -- and is why, when scanning library shelves with books, you can see both title and author.
