In a very wise occult book I've once read that with the right kind of breathing E V E R Y ailment can be healed. I know that this is way outside of what most people can accept as being true. I think it was Meher Baba who said this.
Breath isn't just a physical thing, your breath is the connection between your spirit and your body. It's the thin red line. It's how the healing spirit, the GOD-stuff can pour into your body and rearrange a confused biochemistry in a divine and miraculous way - on a "quantum level". The same way a chaotic world can confuse your thoughts it can also confuse your biochemistry. What can heal the mind can also heal the body - it's your body-mind. Your thoughts are made of "fine matter" and your body is made of the thinking-stuff. Matter is mind and mind is matter.
GOD created man by breathing HIS spirit into an empty human shell, they say.
