He tracked down the mother of Kafeel Ahmed in Bangalore, where she described her boy as a loving son who railed against the oppression of his people.

Suddenly, the bloodied monster being dragged across the forecourt of Glasgow Airport became an intelligent man and loving son. It made what happened seem all the more shocking.

The investigation also answered the streetgossip questions about how the terrorists came to be living in Houston, and how they built their malfunctioning bombs.
