According to a 1998 Audit of Antisemitic Incidents issued by Canadian B'nai Brith,
"One of the more alarming trends in antisemitic activity in Canada in 1998 was the growing
number of incidents involving messianic organizations posing as "synagogues". These missionizing
organizations are in fact evangelical Christian proselytizing groups, whose purpose is
specifically to target members of the Jewish community for conversion. They fraudulently
represent themselves as Jews, and these so-called synagogues are elaborately disguised Christian
churches."[79]

Relationship with Death Row Records
During Dr.Dre’s defection from Ruthless Records (during which time Eazy-E was allegedly
physically harmed by Suge Knight), there was a fear of further violence. Ruthless Records
executives, Mike Klein and Jerry Heller sought assistance from the JDL.[25] Mike Klein, former
Ruthless Records director of business affairs said "The Defense League offered to provide
bodyguards to Eazy-E when Knight allegedly threatened him in the early 1990s." This provided
Ruthless Records with muscle to enter into negotiations with Death Row Records over Dr. Dre’s
departure. While Suge Knight violently sought an outright release from Ruthless Records for Dr.
Dre, the JDL and Ruthless records management were able to sit down with Death Row and negotiate
a release in which the record label would continue to receive money and publishing rights from
future Dr. Dre projects. It was under these terms Dr. Dre left Ruthless Records and formed Death
Row Records with Suge Knight.
The FBI launched a money laundering investigation, on the presumption that the JDL was extorting
money from Ruthless Records. This led to JDL spokesperson Irv Rubin to issue a press release
stating "there was nothing but a close, tight relationship" between Eazy-E and the League.
Jerry Heller explained JDL’s involvement with Ruthless Records as involving reasons additional
to those the FBI investigated. According to Heller, Eazy E received death threats, and it was
discovered that he was on a hit list by some white power skinheads. Heller has speculated that
the FBI did not investigate these threats because of the song "Fuck Tha Police". Heller said,
"It was no secret that in the aftermath of the Suge Knight shake down incident where Eazy was
forced to sign over Dr. Dre, Michele and DOC, that Ruthless was protected by Israeli
trained/connected security forces."[26] Heller maintains that Eazy E admired the group for their
slogan Never Again, and that he had plans to do a movie about the group.

Kahane emigrated to Israel from the United States in September 1969, declaring that he would not
become involved in politics.[5] However, he soon became involved in controversy, initiating
protests advocating the expulsion of Arabs from Israel and the Palestinian territories. In 1972
Jewish Defense League leaflets were distributed around Hebron calling for the mayor to stand
trial for the 1929 Hebron massacre.
Official JDL positions
The JDL adheres to five fundamental principles, which as of July 2007 were listed on its website
as:
* LOVE OF JEWRY: pride in and knowledge of Jewish tradition, faith, culture, land, history,
strength, pain and peoplehood
* DIGNITY AND PRIDE: the need to both move to help Jews everywhere and to change the Jewish
image through sacrifice and all necessary means -- even strength, force and violence.
* IRON: the need to both move to help Jews everywhere and to change the Jewish image through
sacrifice and all necessary means -- even strength, force and violence.
* DISCIPLINE AND UNITY: the knowledge that he (or she) can and will do whatever must be
done, and the unity and strength of willpower to bring this into reality.
* FAITH IN THE INDESTRUCTIBILITY OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE: Faith in the greatness and
indestructibility of the Jewish people, our religion and our Land of Israel.

Course Title: Ethics of Cloning: A Solomon's Choice?
Description:
The arrival of Dolly, the first cloned mammal, heralded the first real possibility of facing
human cloning in the immediate future. Ethical and moral issues were pushed to the forefront
resulting in explosive controversial debates everywhere spanning from the media to our very own
dinnertables. The concept of cloning is approached with both excitement and fear. Excitement is
due to the potential benefits in treating genetic conditions causing diseases in humans (i.e.,
therapeutic cloning). Fear results from the potential of using cloning to produce human clones
(i.e., reproductive cloning) that are perceived as unnatural due to their manner of origin. Is a
clone a human? Does it have a soul, feelings and emotions of its own? Who should decide the
constraints within which reproduction using an "artificial" method is deemed acceptable? What
conditions are acceptable to warrant cloning? Thus, the word "cloning" brings up a plethora of
ethical and moral issues that need to be studied from different standpoints using different
disciplines. We shall discuss the possibilities and hopes that cloning brings to treatment of
diseases in humans. In this course through our readings, which will include Never Let Me Go by
Kazuo Ishiguro and My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult, students will be encouraged to think
about the ethics of science in general. We shall specifically concentrate on the ethical
considerations of cloning. The discussion of the ethics of reproductive cloning would be
incomplete without the discussion of issues plaguing surrogate motherhood. Surrogacy comes with
its difficult choices about the rights and duties of the "birth mother," the "donor mother
and/or father" and "the nurturing mother and/or father." With the boom in medical tourism, "womb
for rent" has become the latest job being outsourced to developing nations, resulting in
dehumanization of the process. We shall read The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood as a basis
for the discussion of the topic. What does the practice of renting out a womb say about a
woman's body? How do we prevent the development of a dystopian society where there is absolute
control over female fertility and reproduction? What does it say about the world we are living
in where a woman's reproductive capacity is the only determinant for the sustenance of her
family? Are developing countries going to be serving as "baby farms"? Through this course we
shall strive to formulate a better understanding of what it means to be human, what constitutes
motherhood, and what happens when science is practiced for its own sake.

Alleged clone baby Eve
Brigitte Boisselier, Clonaid's chief executive (left)
On Friday December 27, 2002, Boisselier, a Raëlian bishop and CEO of Clonaid, announced at press
conference in Hollywood, Florida that Clonaid had successfully performed the first human
reproductive cloning. Boisselier said that the mother delivered Eve by Caesarean section
somewhere outside the United States and that both were healthy. Dr. Boisselier did not present
the mother or child, or DNA samples that would allow for confirmation of her claim at the press
conference. It has subsequently become apparent that she announced the birth before genetic
testing to evaluate whether the child in question is actually a clone: Dr. Boisselier was
therefore stating her belief that her procedure had resulted in a clone, not announcing results
showing that the child was a clone.[13]
Shortly after the announcement, Korean prosecutors raided the offices of Clonaid's Korean
branch, BioFusion Tech. In the process, the prosecutors removed records from homes and offices
while barring two representatives of BioFusion Tech from leaving the country. An official
company statement revealed that three Korean women applied to become surrogate mothers.
Officials of BioFusion Tech told the prosecutors that 10 Korean women wanted to clone themselves
and have filled out applications.[14]
The Food and Drug Administration stated its intention to investigate Clonaid to see if it had
done anything illegal. The FDA contended that its regulations forbid human cloning without prior
agency permission. However, some members of the United States Congress believed that the
jurisdiction of the FDA on human cloning matters was shaky and decided to push Congress to
explicitly ban human cloning.[
