Electric Universe Conference 2013: The Tipping Point
Presentations from the speakers at this year's Electric Universe Conference, held January 3-6 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
* SAFIRE: A Real-World Test of the Electric Sun -
Engineer Monty Childs, director of the SAFIRE project reviews the design of a laboratory experiment to test the Electric Sun hypothesis. How many anomalous features of the Sun can be replicated by a glow discharge in the laboratory? Now that the SAFIRE experiment has been assured of funding, it appears that 2013 could be the definitive year for the experiment.
* RUPERT SHELDRAKE: Science Set Free -
Many scientists like to think that science already understands the ways of the natural world. The fundamental questions are answered, leaving only the details to be filled in. The impressive achievements of science seemed to support this confident attitude. But recent research has revealed unexpected problems at the heart of physics, cosmology, biology, medicine and psychology.
Dr. Sheldrake is a biologist and author of more than 80 scientific papers and 10 books, including Science Set Free (September 2012).
* MICHAEL CLARAGE: Our Universe—It's Electric -
Over the last 200 years the word "cosmology" has come to mean only stars, galaxies, and enormous, lonely reaches of space -- a vast expanse of cosmic islands where humans have no meaningful place. But in most cultures today cosmology is a way of thinking about the entire universe, including such small microcosms as we men and women. The EU paradigm is moving scientific thinking towards a cosmology that once again encompasses everything we know about the universe, including ourselves.
Michael received his PhD in physics in 1992 from Brandeis University, working under Don Caspar, studying the biological and statistical behavior of proteins. Prior to that, he spent several years studying binary pulsars with Joel Weisberg at the Arecibo radio telescope. With his brother, he gave traveling lectures about their discoveries in the areas of fractional calculus, fractals, and chaotic systems. He is self published in philosophy and children's stories (both available on lulu.com). Over the past 15 years, he has presented public lectures on such topics as Relativity and Dimensions, Metaphysics in Biology, Transformation in Supernova and Metamorphosis in Biology.

* WAL THORNHILL: From Cosmic Currents to the Electric Sun -
EU proponent Wal Thornhill offers a comprehensive review of recent data connecting the Sun to its cosmic environment—highlighting the most critical oversight of standard solar physics for a hundred years or more.
* GERALD POLLACK: Electrically Structured Water -
In this lecture Dr. Jerry Pollack, a professor in the bio-engineering department of the University of Washington, discusses new insights into structured water garnered in his lab during the past year. Dr. Pollack has spent the last 10 years researching the role of water in biological tissue, and his discoveries could have a profound impact on our understanding of disease and healing.
* TOM WILSON: Believing is Not Seeing -
In science, belief is a philosophical view-finder that stands between us and what is really observed. Many of today's scientists and researchers in cosmology, astrophysics and planetary science are experiencing a crisis of belief, which is blinding them to real observation and proper hypothesis testing. Hypothesis testing is the way to get past the view-finder, to put down the goggles of belief and really observe. In this presentation, Tom illustrates the point with a discussion about events on Mars, the Jovian moon Io, and Saturn's moon Enceladus.
Holding a PhD in plant physiology, Tom has worked in the semiconductor industry for the last 20 years.
* JAMES SORENSEN: Halton Arp & the Big Bang -
Here is an introduction to challenges posed by the 20th century's leading expert on peculiar galaxies. Halton Arp's life's work led him to discern a fundamental error in today's cosmological assumptions: the common use of redshift to calculate galactic distances does not fit with systematic observations.
* STEPHEN CROTHERS: Black Holes & Relativity -
Yes, it's an exotic subject, but Stephen Crothers has delivered a resounding critique of the most popular dogma in the theoretical sciences, all given at a level of common sense, free from mathematical elaborations.
* BOB JOHNSON: The Electric Sun Revisited -
* We believe that this talk by Bob Johnson is amongst the most important talks given at the recent EU conference in Albuquerque, January 3-6 2013. It raises questions that have not been discussed previously, and these questions may indeed have an impact on the SAFIRE experiment, a well-designed test of the electric Sun hypothesis, with the flexibility to consider qualitative alternatives.
Bob has kindly made available on google.drive (formerly google.docs) the text and slides used in his talk:

* GERALD POLLACK: The Ills of Science -
In this brief talk, Professor Pollack reflects on the ills within the culture of science and offers a prescription for a cure.
* DEAN RADIN: Men Who Stare at Photons -
By its discernment of connectedness within every domain of the physical world, the Electric Universe progressively breaks down the boundaries between "normal" and "paranormal." Now it calls for consideration of phenomena that have been rigorously investigated for over a century. The phenomena studied include direct interactions between minds, and between minds and matter, now confirmed through rigorous experiments.
Dean Radin is Senior Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences and author of over 200 articles and three books: The Conscious Universe
* BILL NICHOLS: Electric Earth, Electric Weather -
Atmospheric scientist Bill Nichols offers a refreshing reconsideration of climate issues, with emphasis on the electrodynamic environment of the Earth, largely overlooked in the polarized debates on climate change.
* BILL MULLEN: Visual Intuition and the Ancient Sky -
If you've ever wondered about the role of mathematics in describing the complex behavior of space plasma, this presentation by Professor Bill Mullen is an excellent tutorial. When someone demands, "Show me the math!" you can be pretty sure the individual needs an education on plasma behavior. The complexity of electrified plasma is, of course, the reason for the SAFIRE experiment. Both the Sun and the heliospheric plasma domain surely do follow rules, but very few rules that can be stated in the oversimplified mathematical terms demanded by the loudest of the EU critics on the Internet.
PLEASE NOTE: In the later discussion of the Polar Configuration, the "Kayenta petroglyph" initially sent to plasma scientist Tony Peratt is referenced in this video at around 23:00. That unique form must be distinguished from the "squatter man" form noted by Dr. Mullen (23:05) The Kayenta form is actually shown at 26:03. It is this more complex form that, in Peratt's laboratory experiments, collapsed into the squatter-man form. See David Talbott's "Seeking the Third Story" on YouTube, with discussion of Peratt, the "chain of arrows," Kayenta petroglyph, and more beginning at 44:36.
