Sunday, 8 September 2013: Our nation was founded with the obedience of her leaders and their knees bent in reverence to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Today, our current generation of leaders openly mock God, His word, and laws through their deeds and plots, plans and schemes. This has not happened overnight, but has increased incrementally, and now exponentially.
The Judeo-Christian heritage on which our nation was founded has been completely perverted by those we have elected to represent us. After all, we get the government we work for, earn and deserve. Our individual silence has become our tacit approval and consent as our nation has collectively embraced and even exported the slaughter of millions, from the unborn to the victims of our “drone diplomacy.” Meanwhile, the church has been largely silent and failed miserably to stand for God’s righteousness and
stand up for Jesus.
As a nation, how can we not expect the judgment and wrath of God to fall upon us, especially when the fear of our government is much greater than the fear of our God? Sadly, the citizens of our nation fear their government more than they fear the eternal judgment by God. Should we not consider the fate of the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, while looking upon their destruction by God as a type of deliverance of the righteous and pure? Like the war clouds looming in a menacing formation directly overhead, so too is the judgment of God for our actions as well as our inaction.
The once strong church – the followers of Jesus – is under intense persecution by the purveyors of perversion in positions of leadership. This persecution is no longer hidden nor passive, but has turned overt and oppressive by the laws of this nation made by men and women who embrace the doctrine of the demonic. The evidence is directly in front of us, wherever we look, yet few speak out against it for fear of being ostracized and branded as racist and intolerant. Yet the tolerance of man’s laws in opposition to God’s laws is the very definition of enmity with God.
We hear it said so often yet fail to listen and understand that God’s people perish for lack of knowledge. It is not only knowledge that is lacking, but the will of God’s people to stand for righteousness in the face of persecution. Knowledge without desire or the will to make a stand is impotence and an insult to God.
Our nation will be judged by God in “real time” for its rebellion and hubris. Churches will be held accountable for their silence, for their
willful perversion of God’s will and His laws for the sake of their unacceptable tolerance in the face of man’s judgment rather than divine judgment.
As we stand at the precipice of a global war, an economic collapse, and all of the human misery and suffering that accompanies these events, how can we deny that we are seeing the judgments and sentences being meted out by a righteous and holy God? We will see God’s righteous indignation manifest itself in the coming days, weeks, months and perhaps years for the sins of man, the sins of the churches, and the sins of nations.
As Christians and followers of Jesus and the one true God, how should we act in the face of such cataclysmic judgments to assure our heavenly place in eternity?
