The WHO Task Force on Vaccines for Fertility Regulation. Its formation, objectives and research activities
Human Reproduction vol.6 no. I pp.166-172, 1991
"Over the past 18 years, the WHO Task Force on Vaccines for Fertility Regulation has been supporting basic and clinical research on the development of birth control vaccines directed against the gametes or the preimplantation embryo. These studies have involved the use of advanced procedures in peptide chemistry, hybridoma technology and molecular genetics as well as the evaluation of a number of novel
approaches in general vaccinology. As a result of this international. collaborative effort, a prototype anti-HCG vaccine is now undergoing clinical testing, raising the prospect that a totally new family planning method may be available before the end of the current decade."

Bill Gates thinks masks are dental dams
These things have been planned for a long time. I learned from reading this.
Picked out some important parts:
"the role of specific saccharide residues have been shown to be involved in sperm - ZP binding" kind of a sidenote but indicates that the old artificial sweetener saccharin has implications for fertility.
"The limited depot effect of the emulsion vehicle necessitates booster injections every few months to maintain an effective level of immunity." seems to be an important piece of the puzzle: I didn't really get why multiple injections would be pushed by Bill Gates, but when you take into account that anti-fertility vaccines with a specific duration of effectiveness would be desireable for those volunteering to be infertile in this way as well as to vaccine companies (who would get repeat customers) then it falls into place.
"The Task Force has been conducting pilot studies aimed at the development of an improved version of the prototype vaccine in which the peptide - carrier conjugate and immunostimulant are incorporated into microspheres formed from biodegradable and biocompatible polymers and administered in low viscosity emulsions." sound like anything we know? ^.^ I can't really quote everything. The paper points out in various parts that they want something that the body doesn't strongly attack (like a coronavirus that causes a cold that we just push through, instead of the body shutting down more and fighting harder against something more threatening).
"The possibility of using recombinant DNA techniques to produce hapten-carrier complexes as fusion proteins is also being investigated, both as a means of obtaining small amounts of test materials as well as an alternative means of large scale production of the immunogen." speaks for itself. This is the mRNA aspect.
"SP-I is a rapidly secreted placental protein which can be detected by immunofluorescence in the cytoplasm of the syncytiotrophoblast as well as on the plasma membrane of this tissue." The specific protein wasn't named at this time in this paper but much of the paper was spent on trophoblasts, which is the cell layer of the eventual placenta binding to the uterus through protein structures. Notice also that syncytiotrophoblast is specifically mentioned.
From the UK paper for the vaccine Syncytin-1 spike protein is specified.
Newer papers related to fertility, immunization and these protein structures are not free (unsurprisingly), but here's an old one:

I really encourage fully reading through; it comes together more, although the language isn't easy and you may have to look up some things (I did!).
