"Scores of Allied pilots during World War I surely muttered, ""Curse you, Red Baron!"" as the notorious Baron Manfred von Richthofen closed in with guns blazing from his distinctive bright-red German fighter. But then on April 21, 1918, the Baron took a bullet in the chest while in hot pursuit of his 81st downing. Was the fatal shot fired by another plane that briefly engaged him? Or did it come from the ground? With state-of-the-art animation and footage filmed at the actual locations, ""Who Killed the Red Baron?"" sheds new light on the most celebrated whodunit in aviation history.

To avoid trampling historical "World War I trench warfare tunnels" in Belgium archaeologists were brought to clear a path for the construction of a pipeline. During World War I, the Allies and Germans repeatedly struggled to break the hideous stalemate of trench warfare. In the winter of 1916, Allied engineers devised a massive surprise attack: over 1 million pounds of explosives hidden in secret tunnels driven under German lines. Building the tunnels was desperate work, with tunnelers at constant risk from flooding, cave-ins, and enemy digging teams.

From PBS - In the early days of World War I, Germany, determined to bring its British enemies to their knees, launched a new kind of terror campaign: bombing civilians from the sky. But the aircraft delivering the lethal payloads weren't planes. They were Zeppelins, enormous airships, some the length of two football fields. With a team of engineers, explosives experts, and historians, NOVA investigates the secrets behind these deadly war machines.

Historic German Educational & Military Films ebooks The multiplicity of small German states achieved real unity only with the rise of Prussia and the formation of the German Empire in the mid 19th century. After being defeated in the First World War, Germany was taken over in the 1930s by the Nazi dictatorship, which led to a policy of expansionism and eventually to complete defeat in the Second World War. Germany was occupied for a time by the victorious Allies and was partitioned. The western part (including West Berlin), which was occupied by the US, Britain, and France, became the Federal Republic of Germany or West Germany, with its capital at Bonn. The eastern part, occupied by the Soviet Union, became the German Democratic Republic or East Germany, with its capital in East Berlin. West Germany emerged as a major European industrial power and was a founder member of the EEC while the East remained under Soviet domination. After the general collapse of communism in eastern Europe, East and West Germany reunited on 3 October 1990. Nazi Germany Nazi Germany, also known as the Third Reich (German: Drittes Reich), was a period in German history from 1933 to 1945, when the country was governed by a dictatorship under the control of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party (NSDAP). Under Hitler's rule, Germany was transformed into a fascist totalitarian state which controlled nearly all aspects of life. The official name of the state was Deutsches Reich ("German Reich", "German Empire" or "German Realm") from 1933 to 1943 and Großdeutsches Reich (Greater German Reich) from 1943 to 1945. Nazi Germany ceased to exist after the Allied Forces defeated Germany in May 1945, ending World War II in Europe. Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany by the President of the Weimar Republic Paul von Hindenburg on 30 January 1933. The Nazi Party then began to eliminate all political opposition and consolidate its power. Hindenburg died on 2 August 1934, and Hitler became dictator of Germany by merging the powers and offices of the Chancellery and Presidency. A national referendum held 19 August 1934 confirmed Hitler as sole Führer (leader) of Germany. All power was centralised in Hitler's person, and his word became above all laws. The government was not a coordinated, co-operating body, but a collection of factions struggling for power and Hitler's favour. In the midst of the Great Depression, the Nazis restored economic stability and ended mass unemployment using heavy military spending and a mixed economy. Extensive public works were undertaken, including the construction of Autobahnen (high speed highways). The return to economic stability boosted the regime's popularity. Beginning in the late 1930s, Nazi Germany made increasingly aggressive territorial demands, threatening war if they were not met. It seized Austria and Czechoslovakia in 1938 and 1939. Hitler made a pact with Joseph Stalin and invaded Poland in September 1939, launching World War II in Europe. In alliance with Italy and smaller Axis powers, Germany conquered most of Europe by 1940 and threatened Great Britain. Reichskommissariats took control of conquered areas, and a German administration was established in what was left of Poland. Jews and others deemed undesirable were imprisoned, murdered in Nazi concentration camps and extermination camps, or shot. The regime's racial policies turned genocidal, culminating in the mass murder of Jews and other minorities in the Holocaust. Following the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941, the tide gradually turned against the Nazis, who suffered major military defeats in 1943. Large-scale aerial bombing of Germany escalated in 1944, and the Axis powers were pushed back in Eastern and Southern Europe. Following the Allied invasion of France, Germany was conquered by the Soviet Union from the east and the other Allied powers from the west and capitulated within a year. Hitler's refusal to admit defeat led to massive destruction of German infrastructure and additional war-related deaths in the closing months of the war. The victorious Allies initiated a policy of denazification and put many of the surviving Nazi leadership on trial for war crimes at the Nuremberg trials. ebooks Bronder - Before Hitler Came.pdf Corporate Fascism Third Reich.pdf Eisenhower's Death Camps The Last Dirty Secret of World War II.pdf Eisenhower's Death Camps.pdf Encyclopedia of the Third Reich.pdf Germany's Antarctic Claim - Secret Nazi Polar Expeditions.pdf Hitler vs Frabato by Robert Bruce Baird.pdf Hitler's Terror Weapons - Brooks, Geoffrey.pdf Last Days of the Third Reich - The Collapse of Nazi Germany, May 1945.pdf Nazi Secrets - Frank Lost.pdf New Images of Nazi Germany.pdf Notes on the Third Reich - Evola, Julius.pdf Rare Photographs of the Third Reich.pdf Secret Nazi Polar Expeditions.pdf Sklar - The Nazis and the Occult, 1989.pdf The Nazi UFO Mythos.pdf The Occult Roots of Nazism.pdf The Secret Agent - Stephan Talty.pdf The SS Brotherhood of the Bell.pdf Third Reich Photos from LIFE.pdf Trading with the Enemy - Nazi-American Money Plot 1933-1949.pdf UFOs Nazi Secret Weapon.pdf videos BERLIN GERMANY WWII AFTERMATH HOME MOVIE 71802 (480p).mp4 EDUCATION FOR DEATH THE MAKING OF A NAZI Walt Disney Anti Nazi Cartoon animated by Ward Kimball 3461 (480p).mp4 Eisenhower's Rhine-Meadows Death Camps (480p).mp4 GERMAN ADVANCED & SECRET WEAPONS FOOTAGE 3475 (480p).mp4 GERMAN ASSAULT ON WARSAW POLAND 1939 SILENT NEWSREEL 73592 (480p).mp4 German Dieppe Raid - 1942 Battle of Dieppe, WWII 32540b HD (480p).mp4 German French Surrender - Armistice, Compiegne, WWII, Hitler 32560c HD (480p).mp4 GERMAN INVASION OF ESTONIA 1917 OPERATION ALBION WORLD WAR I 74102 (480p).mp4 German Invasion of France - Battle of France, 32610d HD (480p).mp4 German Invasion of Latvia, Lithuania 32610f HD (480p).mp4 GERMAN INVASION OF POLAND NAZI WORLD WAR II PROPAGANDA MOVIE 77554 (480p).mp4 German The Taking of The Maginot Line - WWII, Battle of France, Ardennes Forest 32530c HD (480p).mp4 GERMAN U-BOATS DEPARTING FOR BATTLE WORLD WAR I NEWSREEL 73682 (480p).mp4 GERMAN V 2 ROCKET TESTS AND FAILURES w Wernher Von Braun 3459 (480p).mp4 GERMANY INVADES AUSTRIA WORLD WAR II NEWSREEL ANSCHLUSS 70792 (480p).mp4 NAZI ARTILLERY GERMAN FORTIFICATIONS IN OCCUPIED EUROPE 78254 (480p).mp4 Nazi Germany in Color mos 32750 HD (480p).mp4 Now it Can Be Told - U-505 Capture World War II 21020 HD (480p).mp4 RED BARON MANFRED VON RICHTHOFEN SILENT NEWSREEL FOOTAGE WWI 72072E (480p).mp4 Secret Life of Hitler - Paula Wolf, Eva Braun 31250 HD (480p).mp4 SINKING OF THE GERMAN BATTLECRUISER GRAF SPEE NEWSREEL 70700 (480p).mp4 SURRENDER OF NAZI GERMANY NEWSREEL WWII 1945 71022 (480p).mp4 U.S. NEWS REVIEW with VERONICA LAKE WOMEN DURING WWII BOMB RAID ON BREMEN 76974 (480p).mp4 WWII GERMAN U-BOAT & AIRCRAFT ATTACK ON ALLIED CONVOY MURMANSK 76794 (480p).mp4 tags: Germany, Nazi, Hitler, WWI, WWII, history, Third Reich, UFO

Part 2: Ballots and Bullets
David Reynolds examines the intriguing paradox of the Great War - that it was not caused by profound political or ideological divisions but did create them in its wake. He looks at how the conflict made politics red hot, giving birth to an age of turbulent mass democracy.

David Reynolds traces the legacy of the Great War across 100 years and 10 different countries, examining how the war haunted a generation and shaped the peace that followed.

Part 1: Remembering and Understanding

David Reynolds shows how the common perception of the Great War as futile slaughter has been moulded over time. The image of mud and trenches, poets and poppies was not the general view in the 1920s and 1930s, but developed after the Second World War and, most of all, through popular depictions of the war from the 1960s.
