Support to remove tracker comments... wow

First of all, thanks for the donation. $50 is very generous, however the point of my message was that
with 70,000 users 10 CENTS each ONCE a year would pay our roughly $5,000 annual bills, with $2,000
left over for expansion. In other words, your $50 donation covered 5,000 people for a year, but those
people really can afford a DIME once a year can they not?

You mention feeling ripped off by various sites... I would like to hope you think you got a good value for
what you just spent here. This tracker has been online for four years now, so we're not about to go anywhere any time soon. IMHO, 4 years straight with 99.99% uptime is a track record that allows us to rest on our laurels.

As for comments, I reinstated them today. The reason I removed them the last time was due to admin abuse, not poster abuse. As long as people are respectful to each other let them discuss the issues this tracker deals with. These issues certainly need to be openly discussed.

As for your offer to moderate, I can't really decide to do that without having a feel for a person over a few months of observing their posts, willingness to actively participate and bring things to the site be it torrents, insight or whatnot. If you do wish to be a moderator here someday, I'd suggest that you join our forum at and make yourself known to the rest of us. In other words, I pick staff based on a judgement of character and you're a stranger to me. I'm sure you can understand that.

Thanks for the comments, donation and offer. Please join us on the forum.

Dear Sirs/MadamsOk, so it's a torrent site, so Sirs :PJust wanted to let you know that I totally support your decisionto ban all comments on the site. I've been a mod on variouscome-and-go sites, and not ONCE have I seen a site succeedonce the grip of abusive mods/admins comes along. The Speilberg-esquenazi-ism that comes out of
seemingly 'normal' people when putin a position of "power" (term used liberally), is beyond mycomprehension.I feel for you, but I'm glad you did what you did.You were right in your little yellow text, it WAS time forsome first donations... all i could throw in was $50, I wishit could be more, alas.. it cannot:(I wish i could support the site more, but I've been burnedeverywhere I've ever tried.I just wanted to basically extend a hand, say you're notalone in being depressed by 'mankind' (or, more accurately,online-mankind), and reassure you that your contribution tothe internet is invaluable to me, and therefore surely manythousands of others. So thank you:)P.S.. if you ever want a reliable mod, you can ask me, andI can auto-reply with my "fuck you" standard mod response :DOlly, UK

This site does have a slightly more relaxed feel to it than most, but it's not unique.

I guess Oliver hasn't had good luck finding a site he can call his own yet...

The reason I joined up on this board is because its the closest thing to the old bbs. Then they changed the whole site including the bbs. Its great you can really speak your mind here.

i was on a 32 line bbs before the net was even the "information super highway" as they called it here... i figured as much, but wow, a bbs is so old school in this day and age.

I actually joined one a couple years back... not dial in... telnet,... did it for old time's sake.

Ok, yeah. I was into that as well. People who started creating the bulleten boards started naming them bbs, so I just went with that.

I know I get the nastalgia for the old school as well. Damn good times. Who knows we might need to revert to the old bbs dial up style if they start taking over the internet.

The crisis of modern democracy is a profound one. Free elections, a free press and an independent judiciary mean little when the free market has reduced them to commodities available on sale to the highest bidder.

The structure of capitalism is flawed. The motor that powers it cannot but vastly increase the disparity between the poor and the rich globally and within countries as well. Parecon is a brave argument for replacing that flawed machine and offers a much needed -- more equitable, democratic, participatory -- alternative economic vision.

Dr. Hermann Oberth who pioneered rocket design for the German Reich during World War II and later advanced rocket technology for the American manned space launches, cryptically stated: "We cannot take the credit for our record advancement in certain scientific fields alone; we have been helped."

When asked by whom, he replied: "The people of other worlds."

Keep your BBS software at the ready. If/when they "pull the plug" on the net after the next big staged attack, BBSs will make a comeback.

Actually, We need fallback BBSs with telephone numbers already reserved and published so everyone knows where to go. Anyone?
