Quote:Fans of hugely-popular comedian Jon Stewart thank the Daily Show for mocking the one-sided response of US politicians to the Gaza crisis.

Stewart, who is Jewish, criticized the Israeli campaign in Gaza during "Strip Maul" segment in the January 5 show, aired on Comedy Central.

The Jewish comedian claimed the military offensive would not bring peace for Israelis or Palestinians -- 1.5 million of whom reside in the tiny coastal strip.

Stewart then aired a clip of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg expressing his strong support for the Israeli assault in Gaza.

"If you're in your apartment and some emotionally disturbed person is banging on your door, screaming, 'I'm going to come through this door and kill you!' do you want us to respond with one police officer, which is proportional, or with all the resources at our command?" Mayor Bloomberg said.

Stewart, who is expected to receive many complaints over his remarks, mocked the mayor along with US politicians who have voiced their support for the Israeli campaign.

"I guess it depends if I forced that guy to live in my hallway… and make him go through checkpoints every time he has to take a sh*t!" Stewart said.

Tel Aviv launched Operation Cast Lead on December 27 to put an end to rocket attacks, fired by Hamas, against southern Israel.

The Hamas Movement, the democratically-elected ruler of the impoverished strip, demands a cessation of an 18-month Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.

At least 905 Palestinians have been killed during the Israeli operation and some 3,100 others are reported wounded. On the Israeli side, at least 10 soldiers have died, while some 80 others are injured.

The US Senate and the House of Representatives have adopted two separate resolutions on the ongoing onslaught, expressing their strong support for the Israeli campaign.

Jon Stewart fans, meanwhile, have launched a website to post their gratitude for the comedian's stance on Gaza.

Standing Ovation, this is not the first anti-Israeli thing he's said either, him or Colbert

For a similiar view I'd suggest everyone go to hulu.com and look up the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode "The Gang Goes Jihad"
