Police murdering a homeless man in NM spark protests.
Quote:Riot police clashed with demonstrators in the US city of Albuquerque on Sunday night as public anger at the fatal shooting of a homeless man by police spilled over into scenes of "mayhem".
Officers used tear gas to dispel at least 500 people protesting the killing of 38-year-old James Boyd, who was shot on March 16 following a standoff at his makeshift camp in the foothills of the New Mexico city.

The demonstrations followed a call for retaliation by the computer hacking collective Anonymous, which issued a video online urging locals to occupy police headquarters and take a stand against Boyd's "cold blooded" murder.
"Let them know that your city is not a place for war games against the homeless and the less fortunate," the group said in the video.
Two officers have been placed on leave following Boyd's killing, which is being investigated by the FBI. But Albuquerque police have insisted their actions were justified and have released a video of the incident.

The footage shows several officers standing approximately 20 feet away from Boyd, telling him to leave. After initially refusing, he finally agrees to come down the hill with them and puts his backpack on, but then drops the bag as a police dog and K9 officer approach. Shouting "get on the ground" and "drop the knife", the officer then unleashed stun guns, bean bags and live rounds.
The video then shows Boyd wounded on the ground with two small knives in his hand as officers surround and handcuff him. He later died from his injuries.

The killing took place against a backdrop of rising public anger at alleged police brutality in the city. Albuquerque police have been involved in 37 shootings, 23 of them fatal, since 2010 - a rate which critics say is far too high for a department serving a city of some 555,000.
The US Justice Department has been investigating the department for more than a year, looking into complaints of civil rights violations and allegations of excessive use of force.

Alexander Siderits, 23, said he was participating because he was "fed up" with how police treat citizens. "It has reached a boiling point, and people just can't take it anymore," he said.
Mayor Richard Berry said one police officer was injured in the "mayhem", claiming the originally peaceful demonstration had been hijacked by troublemakers. "They've taken it far beyond a normal protest," he said.

At one point, protesters trapped police in a vehicle and tried to break the windows, the Albuquerque Journal reported. The police department said its website had also come under a cyberattack on Sunday afternoon. Anonymous had previously warned of such a hack in its video, but Simon Drobik, a police spokesman said investigators had not uncovered the source.
Last week, Albuquerque police fatally shot a man at a public housing complex. Authorities said he shot at officers before they returned fire.

This is the video of police shooting the homeless man that have sparked these protests.

This is the video where the protesters are allegedly trying to break the windows of the cops vehicles as mentioned in the article above...

These were the state's reinforcements of the evening.

At least he died while standing on his two feet, whereas 99% of the population consent to living while crawling on their knees.
