Video  Oklahoma father dies in police encounter

(CNN) -- It was supposed to be a fun family outing to the movies, but then Nair Rodriguez' 19-year-old daughter got under her skin. They fought, she said, and she slapped her daughter.

Moments later, police arrived on a domestic dispute call at the Moore, Oklahoma, theater and confronted -- not Nair Rodriguez -- but her husband Luis. They took him down, and after the encounter on February 15, he was dead.

Cell phone video taken by his wife and released this week shows the final minutes of the takedown.

Nair Rodriguez accuses officers of brutality. Police say they were following protocol and used no undue force.

RE: Oklahoma father dies in police encounter
Same as https://concen.org/forum/thread-52170.html for those who've read the story. Death should never be an option except in extreme circumstances. Police are supposed to be trained to take down unarmed individuals without causing death.

Injury, probably.

This suggests that police are, as I've noted in other threads, improperly trained and under pressure from superiors for some bullshit reason. It's time Americans took back their power instead of going all "boo hoo" over this shit, which will only continue to escalate otherwise.

This is why I have no sympathy for those who don't fight back in a lawful manner to change the system for the better. Americans want death? It's all yours.

This has been hitting the media. People are learning the police are basically trained bullying killers. If they are doing this, their superiors are worse and at fault. This sort of stuff is leading to where a few citizens will get very tired or those few citizens who have lost a loved one because police unable to think, rationalize, and understand who they are working for in the first place, masters or the people.

Cop Shoots 70-year-old Man Reaching for Walking Stick

February 27, 2014 |

A police officer from Columbia, South Carolina is under investigation for shooting a 70-year-old motorist after he mistook the man’s cane for a rifle during a routine traffic stop, APreported. [3]

Bobby Canipe of North Carolina was pulled over by 24-year-old Deputy Terrence Knox for an expired license tag. When Canipe got out of the pickup truck to reach into the bed for his walking stick, Knox fired several times hitting the man once, under the mistaken belief the walking stick was a long-barreled rifle.

York County sheriff spokesperson, Trent Farris, appeared to defend the officer's actions:

"The situation is very unfortunate," Faris said. "It does appear, at this time, that Deputy Knox's actions were an appropriate response to what he reasonably believed to be an imminent threat to his life.”

The incident is currently under investigation and Knox, a deputy for almost three years, has been placed on leave. No charges have been filed yet.

The victim was taken to a hospital in Charlotte North Carolina where he is expected to survive.

Police officers are just as human as the rest of us. The fear they're feeling is transmitted to the people they're supposed to be serving and protecting, who will convert that fear into action, which feeds back and forth between police and regular people over time. Eventually, more officers will be killed in the line of duty due to a problem that could have been resolved using a more rational mindset.
