Bug  Movie: Filth 2013, Scotland's Finest
Last night I watched this movie Filth (2013).

It is the story of a vicious, predatory, psychopathic Scottish cop and his decent into madness over a job promotion.

Torrent here:

So sick it's entertaining, because I've had similar co-workers. Smile

It does offer a happy ending in the final scene.

Ah. I also enjoyed that movie. Thanks.

Those movies do not portray Scotland in a very positive light however.

I would like to visit that foreign land some day, but would first need to learn the language. Smile

I watch Scottish movies with the subtitles turned on when possible. Seriously, I do.

Are Freemasons really as integrated into Scottish police forces as the movie portrays?

RE: Movie: Filth 2013, Scotland's Finest
every country has it's dark underbelly.
Irving Welsh, the author, specialises in elaborating on that dark underbelly, of them with extremely dark humour.
As for freemasonry in the Scottish p[olice.... not as integrated as the film portrays from what i gather.
There is a decent sized anti masonic"movement" or whatever you'd call it on the Scottish police.
An old school-friend of mine is in the Police and he and his pals HATE masons.... oddly the real masonic corruption happened in England with the" flying squad" in London in the 70's.. massive public scandal and outcry.
As for the language.. well we have a fair efw dialects here in Scotland from Lallans,Braid, doric heilan and all sorts.
The accent in the movie is that of the East coast, specifically Edinburgh area as that's where Irving Welsh is from so he mostly writes about that... and

If you can... check out his short story compilation "The Acid House", extremely dark and extremely funny too!

That's good news. The less secrecy police are able to enjoy, the better IMO.

I found the books and movie. As a former fan of narcosis and life-long fan of the outrageous, these sound right up my alley.

Thanks for the leads Pax !!

Hell's Bells. The Bay seems to be down again today.

I'll try again tomorrow.

RE: Movie: Filth 2013, Scotland's Finest
I thought it had a happy ending, considering the "protagonist". Smile

Sidenote: Last night I watched the first 40 minutes of this movie The Selfish Giant. This movie is so depressing I turned it off after 40 minutes. It's the story of a kid who gets into trouble in West Yorkshire, England.

Sweet Jebus! What a cold, grey, communistic hell-hole they've built! If I was that kid, I would either hang myself with a rope, or run away to Spain.

RE: Movie: Filth 2013, Scotland's Finest
Also have a look at the movie Ecstasy too.. yet another drug
what you have to remember though is that they are all written in the Scottish east coast accent(Edinburgh) and they use a lot of Edinburgh slang and Scots words.
Once you get the hang of it you'll be fine.
as a wee primer
bufty - gay man
Gam - blow job
"bag o' billy" - a gram of speed(billy... billly whizz.. an old comic character.. )
ken - know
gonnae -literally going but usually used as "will you".. such as "gonnae no dae that" ie "will you stop doing that"

there's shed loads more and if you get stuck just message me and i'll help you out.

You will laugh yer ass off at the acid house... which is a selection of the short stories from the book...

EDIT: Seroidal, the closest thing to a happ[y ending is in trainspotting, even then it's tainted with betrayal, gack stabbing and general twisted shit...... however check out the follow up book... "Porno".. fuckadoodledo! sick boy(who else) gets into the porn also check out Skag boys which is the prequel to Trainspotting Wink
one of my favourites out of it never made the film. it's only a couple of sentences really and goes something like this
"Wee Rab, never had a ride in his puff. disnae seem to bothered mind you.!"
Which means Little Robert, never had sex in his life. He is not too bother though"
Oh and another which i'll shorten a bit.
"when we got together we both agreed that sex and laughter were important parts of a relationship.
not at the same time though yah fucking bitch!"
He is DARK, SICK and TWISTED but does weave a very good story.
He also Dj's respectably.. techno stuff oc course.. mostly hard house and acid techno.. however having seen hoim a couple of times.. you have to get him on before he is totally out his tits..LOL as the last time half way through his set the E obviously kicked in and his mixing went to shit..LOL
It was hilarious and the crowd didn't care.. they just laughed.
But Charlie, do enjoy them , they are great books and great movies.
the movies though are not as dark really as the books.
I have always found that a good book will have you make a wee "movie in your head" of the story it weaves and the movie then made of it doesn't quite compare if you know what i mean?

Thanks for lead. I found Ecstacy here:

Only one seed, but I'll grind on it all day.

Last night I read the first chapter of Filth wilst laying bed.

Very sick sick naughty stuff Smile , but highly readable, flows well.

(Below is NOT for everyone. Skip if you possess good taste and/or sound morals.)
The trouble with people like him is that they think that they can brush off people like me. Like I was nothing. They don’t understand the type of world we’re living in now; all those menaced souls clamouring for attention and recognition. He was a very arrogant young man, so full of himself.
No longer. Now he’s groaning, blood spilling thickly from the wounds in his head and his yellow, unfocused eyes are gandering around, desperately trying to find clarity, some meaning in the bleakness, the darkness around him. It must be lonely.
He’s trying to speak now. What is it that he is trying to say to me?
Help. Police. Hospital.
Or was it help please hospital? It doesn’t really matter, that little point of detail because his life is ebbing away: human existence distilled to begging for the emergency services.
You pushed me away mister. You rejected me. You tricked me and spoiled things between me and my true love. I’ve seen you before. Long ago, just lying there as you are now. Black, broken, dying. I was glad then and I’m glad now.
I reach into my bag and I pull out my claw hammer.
Part of me is elsewhere as I’m bringing it down on his head. He can’t resist my blows. They’d done him in good, the others.
After two fruitless strikes I feel a surge of euphoria on my third as his head bursts open. His blood fairly skooshes out, covering his face like an oily waterfall and driving me into a frenzy; I’m smashing at his head and his skull is cracking and opening and I’m digging the claw hammer into the matter of his brain and it smells but that’s only him pissing and shitting and the fumes are sticking fast in the still winter air and I wrench the hammer out, and stagger backwards to watch his twitching death throes, seeing him coming from terror to that graceless state of someone who knows that he is definitely falling and I feel myself losing my balance in those awkward shoes and I correct myself, turning and moving down the old stairway into the street.
Out on the pavement it’s very cold and totally deserted. I look at a tin-foil carton with a discarded takeaway left in it. Someone has pished in its remains and rice floats on a small freezing reservoir of urine. I move away. The cold has slipped into my bones with every step down the road jarring, making me feel like I’m going to splinter. Flesh and bone seem separate, as if a void exists between them. There’s no fear or regret but no elation or sense of triumph either. It’s just a job that had to be done.
