Robot serves up 360 burgers an hour.
Quote:No longer will they say, “He’s going to end up flipping burgers.” Because now, robots are taking even these ignobly esteemed jobs. Alpha machine from Momentum Machines cooks up a tasty burger with all the fixins. And it does it with such quality and efficiency it’ll produce “gourmet quality burgers at fast food prices.”

With a conveyor belt-type system the burgers are freshly ground, shaped and grilled to the customer’s liking. And only when the burger’s finished cooking does Alpha slice the tomatoes and pickles and place them on the burger as fresh as can be. Finally, the machine wraps the burger up for serving.

And while you fret over how many people you invited to the barbecue, Alpha churns out a painless 360 hamburgers per hour.

San Francisco-based Momentum Machines claim that using Alpha will save a restaurant enough money that it pays for itself in a year, and it enables the restaurant to spend about twice as much on ingredients as they normally would – so they can buy the gourmet stuff. Saving money with Alpha is pretty easy to imagine. You don’t even need cashiers or servers. Customers could just punch in their order, pay, and wait at a dispensing window.

For their next model Momentum Machines plans on adding a custom meat grinding feature so it can mix different meats – 1/3 pork, 2/3 bison sounds like a tasty combo – in the same burger. They’ll also give it gourmet cooking abilities that seasoned chefs use such as charring the burger while retaining its juiciness.
The company plans on launching the first ever restaurant chain with a cook staff made entirely of robots. But not only might we soon find Alpha’s creations at local burger joints, but the company is also targeting convenience stores, food trucks, and somehow even vending machines.

Can't wait for robots to start doing all manner of jobs, replacing humans in the process.

Wonder if the burger flipping robots will start a revolution when there's no humans left to buy their burgers because they can't find jobs.

The robots will create a colony to breed humans so that they will buy their burgers and give the robots a sense of meaning to their lives.

In this economy, with unemployment rates being what they are (and were at the time of the article's posting), and the possibility we're going to see another housing market crash soon according to a couple of sources, this type of technology isn't by any means a priority.
Truth appears in many forms. Find those that resonate with you.

In a free market economy, a burger-making robot would be a cool development.

Technological advances are supposed to free humans to go do more important things. Women no longer have to haul water to wash clothes because we have washing machines. Men no longer have to follow a horse behind a plow because we have tractors.

In our current fascist national socialist economy, these advances just mean more pain.

I just woke up. This morning I had a dream about my old friend who committed suicide a couple of years ago partly because artificially low interest rates deprived him of retirement income.

Too old and crippled to work, he burned through his savings and became destitute and depressed.

For thousands of years men saved up wealth when they were young to live off after they became too old to work. It's the natural way of things. No more.

That would make for an interesting movie plot.

on the current system, the old and feeble are rather wished disappeared. In the Native System, they were taken care of because they held the wisdom. Today, the elite prey on wisdom.

This thread touches on similar themes:

Who Needs Humans

The robots breeding humans to buy burgers would be an awesome cult movie in that cheesy horror comedy style with hilarious mishaps especially when the humans fight back. I can picture it now some dude with a rambo headband attacking some robot and saying 'do you want fries with that?' and pushing the robot into a deep fryer. Or the humans destroy what they thought was the final boss robot only to find the store was part of some gigantic corporation called Roboburgs who turn out to be cybernetic Jews leaving open the sequel. The ultimate plot twist is that no cows are ever seen and in the third movie of the trilogy the humans find out that the robots were using humans as burger meat Soylent Green style because of overpopulation. Cue internet nerds remarking on continuity errors due to robots breeding human slaves to buy burgers yet killing them off due to overpopulation. Has a ring of truth to it in a sick way.

Any ideas what this film would be called guys????
