Great entertainment!

Alex is right about crime in general. Piers, for obvious reasons, only concentrates on gun crime. Here's The Guardian's own website on knife crime:

Quote:London Knife Crime Offences 2007 to 2012

Posted on 20/06/2012 by CitizensReport

London Knife Crime by Borough 2007 to 2012
21 out of 32 London boroughs saw increases in knife crime offences from the 2010-11 financial year to the end of the 2011-12 financial year leading to a continuation of the four year upward trend. The greatest percentage increases (over +20%) occurred in Redbridge, Merton, Hillingdon, Richmond, Lambeth, Islington. Moderate reductions (better than -10%) have occurred in Enfield and Wandsworth.
Lambeth with 1006 knife crime offences in 2011-12, a 28.8% increase (additional 187 offences) over the year, now has the highest level of knife crime in London, with Southwark coming the second highest with 961 knife crime offences.

While the level of stabbings – knife offences that have led to injury – has remained relatively unchanged with a 4% decrease from 2010-11 (4,133 offences) to 2011-12 (3,970 offences); it is likely that the 10% increase in personal robbery from 2010-11 (32,848 offences) to 2011-12 (36,138 offences) contributed to the increases in overall knife crime offences, as knives are regularly used to threaten and intimidate robbery victims.

RE: Alex Jones VS Piers Morgan on CNN
Alex shit the bed. He fell right into their little propaganda trap. He started off OK and then went into classic conspiratard mode. Yelling, mean mugging and challenging Piers to a boxing match. All entertaining sure but not helpful in the long run.
Then of course, Alex goes into his frenzy about 9/11- there's the setup and spiked by Piers and all the other media hacks he has on after him. Feigning fear and distress about all the angry misled conspiracy minions that want to remain in control of their guns and how we can't have that. Its too dangerous!
To be fair to AJ, he did bring up some valid information and I dig him trying to be aggressive to an extent. I just think he dropped the ball in terms of having a legitimate debate and helped Piers look like the victim of some redneck bully.

RE: Alex Jones VS Piers Morgan on CNN
Emphasis added
Quote:CNN host Piers Morgan just called to discuss his interview last night with Alex Jones, the conservative radio host and gun advocate who went on a tirade against Morgan, gun control legislation, and a litany of government conspiracies.

"He was the best advertisement for gun control you could wish for," Morgan told POLITICO.

"That kind of vitriol, hatred, and zealotry is really quite scary. I didn't feel threatened by him, but I'm concerned that someone like him has that level of influence," Morgan said. "There's got to be a level of discourse that can rise above what happened last night. It was undignified, unedifying."

In what Morgan described as a "big, long rant," Jones -- the man who started the White House petition to deport Morgan -- shouted questions about gun control legislation, gave premonitions of a 1776-like rebellion, and pronounced conspiracy theories -- including his belief that 9/11 was an inside job -- while Morgan tried calmly and in vain to conduct a civil interview.

"Sometimes it's better to let somebody have the rope they need to tie themselves in knots," Morgan told POLITICO, noting that he had been far more vocal and more passionate in previous interviews with gun advocates. According to Morgan, Jones continued ranting straight through the commercial break that divided the two-segment interview.

Morgan said he anticipated such a performance: "I knew what we were going to be getting into with him," he said. "I know about his background and his reputation, so I know he's kind of shock jock."
But Jones is also influential among conservatives, Morgan said, which is why he had him on CNN.

"He said last night that his show now airs in 140 networks, he has a huge online presence -- every day his message gets sent out to millions of Americans," Morgan said. "Through vitriol and rhetoric he is able to spur heavy gun sales and ammunition sales. He works off of fear."

Jones is the host of The Alex Jones Show, based in Austin, Texas, and the creator of InfoWars.com and PrisonPlanet.com, two websites that promote a worldview the Southern Poverty Law Center described as being "governed by logic-leaping deductions and heedless pronouncements."

But Jones has made a success of those websites, of his show, and -- most recently -- of the petition to deport Morgan, which has over 100,000 signatures. Last night, White House spokesman Jay Carney issued a response to the petition, citing "the freedom of expression" as "a bedrock principle in our democracy"

"He is clearly a smart guy under the craziness," Morgan said. "Look, you could tell from the way he ranted that he's not a stupid man. But that makes him more dangerous. There will be lots of people who follow him avidly who are not so intelligent, who believe everything he says."
Morgan added that the petition to deport him was "not an insignificant issue."

"There is a pattern of British people who espouse peace or want more peace being gagged in this country," he said, citing John Lennon and Charlie Chaplin. But Morgan said that Carney's nod to the First Amendment was promising.

"They were making the point I've been making: You can hardly accuse me of attacking the Second Amendment by attacking the First Amendment," he said. "I am merely representing my opinion, and that is protected."

Though the media seems to have all but forgotten the gun control debate, and though chances for gun control legislation are starting to look dim, Morgan vowed to continue addressing the issue until government takes action.

"After every shooting, America goes back to normal. The media come off the story, nothing gets done, the pressure on politicians dissipates," he said. "But you and I both know there's going to be another shooting in months, or even weeks. My intent is simply to keep this issue boiling along until the politicians act on it."
"I think America is getting diluted to the horror of these things: it's become too casual, too widespread, too indiscriminate, and incredibly dangerous," he said. "Something has to be done."

So there you go...
Alex was played like a fiddle.
Now here's the question. Dont you think Jones is smart enough to know exactly how he will be portrayed in the media? So why do what he did?

Sad  RE: Alex Jones VS Piers Morgan on CNN
I agree Silva. They played Alex. We know everything Jones said was true, but to the average CNN zombie he looked like a nutter.

I rarely listen to Jones but have this week because the gun thing is of interest to me because I own several AR's. I just listened to the first hour of today's Infowars show. Jones is playing it that he was provoked into emotion because of the thugs they had trailing him.

I think Jones was also playing to his market segment. I live in Texas. The gun nuts here were spooked by how the MSM spun Sandy Hook. It wouldn't take much for some hard-kore fundies to start shooting ATF agents here (again).

Heck, maybe that's what the NWO wants.

Without a doubt, Jones is very media savvy.

SiLVa Wrote:So why do what he did?

Because Jones makes big Big Time off the dialectic. The little shtick he did plays right into the stereotype.

me! Wrote:ok, i cannot stand piers bloody morgan but alex jones comes off like a total xenophobic prick in this.
he was utterly evasive and the only decent points he made to rebuff morgan were in reference to being fired for bullshit stories in the paper he was editing and also about his more than probable involvement in the phone hacking scandal.
it pains me to say this but morgan come off as reasonable while jones comes off as a rude, xenophobic foaming lunatic.
and it does pain me to say it as morgan is an utter cock.
and yeah, he got played huge but seemed as usual to revel in it even though he does come off so badly.

Classic anti-gun hypocrisy...Not surprised in the least. Alex Jones may stink sometimes but Morgan is just the filthiest piece of shit there is in the media.
I heard Jones is now asking for a moderated debate with Morgan. Probably should have modertated himself the 1st time but I'd like to see that happen.

Odds are that Morgan wont accept though. They have the fodder they wanted. I doubt they will let Jones save face but Im sure in their eyes the ratings are more important, so you never know.

I find it difficult to believe that human beings actually sit in their living rooms and watch the people in that video.

My sister is about as clueless and media zombied as a person can be, and she wouldn't watch that.

Jones said the CNN studios were filthy, with boogers on the walls (I kid you not). Jones claims their viewer numbers are extremely low.
