RE: Pigs shoot Human
Well, while cops have been known to shoot dogs for no reason (I could post links, too lazy), this one does not have much information, just a video. It seems as if the dog began charging at the one officer, and the other shot it for that reason. I wonder why the dog ran toward the crowd before doing that? It was obvious the dog was barking at the cops (more nerve than most people). My curiosity is a lack of information... Do you have anything more to provide than a video?

Lack of info ? ? ? What more do you need ? ?

I agree Anarchist, that cops often shoot dogs for little reason…. yet that little reason is because they are fucking cowards, that pull the trigger before maintaining a calm attitude.

Dogs read emotions, smell pheromones, and KNOW what PEOPLE are thinking !!! The dog didn't like the cops, felt threatened, and went into protect and defend mode… because of those cops.... it's that simple!

Thanks mex… for the reality check. *interesting thread title...

Those are a few from memory that took <1 minute to find. As for the lack of info, I would like to see witness testimonials. As much as I dislike cops, and I come from a family that is well known in the law enforcement community in the state I was born, the dog did seem to charge at the cops. When the dog did that, the cop could have feared the dog would attack... Interestingly, he goes straight for a gun. If it was a person, it would have been a taser, and then when his mugshot would be taken, he would seem suspiciously more bloody than when he got in the car...

I am curious as to what built up before the video. Did the cops taunt the dog? What happened? All I see is three seconds of the dog barking then running around, a gunshot, and then ~80 seconds of a woman screaming. I would like more than 3 seconds to make up my mind, is all.

Definitely a dick move, but to that cop's defense, that's a pit bull and it would've fucked him up bad.

RE: Pigs shoot Human
Why do some people choose to have a dog when going out ? because its a better protector than a pig..

RE: Pigs shoot Human
Not disagreeing, if my beloved Rocky was still alive, I would take him over a pig any day of the week. Loyal to death, and lovable, cannot get either quality with a pig. Few good ones are left, I have personally witnessed a lot of them leave or be forced to quit. Still, I just would like more information. The dog did look like it was charging after the pig. Perhaps it was stressed and they agitated the poor thing? I do not know, it was not on video. Also, I wonder why the guy who was right by the dog (I would think it was his dog) just kept laying there after they shot the poor animal.

Also, are you seriously buying that Indigo Children/Animals video you posted? I wondered about the title, then I saw that video...

RE: Pigs shoot Human
I saw this video almost the same day it was posted, the full video has since been edited. Its owner was a young homeless guy. He went into some kind of seizure and the pitbull , named Star, was protecting him. He was only barking and trying to keep people back but then when he ran at the cop because he was getting close to its owner, the pussy shot him.
Cops arent trained to deal with dogs, but they're told to shoot them if they attack. They say they shot her because they couldnt get near the young man without it attacking, however if their intent was to actually help the person on the ground- they failed miserably because even up to almost 10 minutes after the dog was shot they still hadnt helped the kid. They had plenty of time to clear space for the dog and get animal control in there to at least get control of the dog without trying to kill her. The dog was known to protect the owner on many occasions. The other homeless people that knew and lived around them knew to keep their distance whenever the owner had a seizure or was incapacitated in one way or another.

This article says she survived but who knows if thats even true.
Quote:Questions surround Star the dog shot by NYPDA female pit bull by the name of “Star,” was shot earlier this week after she charged a NYPD officer approaching her owner who was passed out on the sidewalk after suspected epileptic seizure related complications.

Initial reports of the shooting indicated Star had been killed by the single gunshot, but confirmed later reports stated, Star survived the gun shot and was taken to Animal Care and Control (ACC) of NYC.

View slideshow: Star pictured protecting her owner, and the police officer shooting her
The next day, Richard Gentles, a press representative for ACC, told DNA Info.com “The dog is being provided medical care by the ACC and is in a stable condition at this time."

Sasha Sabbeth, one of the many Star supporters that are concerned about the dog’s welfare and medical treatment, told Examiner, “I have been working fervently along with many others to find pit bull rescues that will assure that she is getting complete proper medical care. Star has had at least one bullet in her head now for five days.

“The rescue, Smilin' Pit Bull, one of the rescues contacted by Sabbeth, was informed by an ACC contact, that he can't pick up Star because she is not at ACC. The rescue had been told by his ACC contact that Star had been taken to an offsite clinic in their STAR program.”

When Sabbeth shared this information with her many rescue contacts, their reactions became split to this information. Some animal advocate and rescue groups believe that she is still at ACC and that ACC is using Star for their fundraising agenda depriving Star of the in depth medical care that she needs.

Others animal advocate and rescue groups believe that ACC might have her at an offsite clinic because she is such a high profile dog. “However, if it is true that Star is in an offsite clinic, it does not mean that she is receiving the high level, emergency medical care that she needs.” Sabbeth stated.

In other critical care animal stories, whether from abuse or accident, other shelters, rescues, and vet clinics, gladly share the progress and condition of the animal. With Star, there is suspicious secrecy, lack of cooperation, and insufficient information to make the public, confident that Star is being given every chance to recover from this assault. Sabbeth stated, “I am profoundly concerned, as are many around the country and perhaps the world who watch the news video and experienced the five minutes of unconscionable agony that this dog was forced to endure without help or concern from anyone.”

Sabbeth went on to tell the Examiner, “I am not a veterinarian. However logic dictates that she needs sensitive surgery with proper medical foster homing where she will be assured safety, adoring love, and any necessary rehabilitation services. I speak for many other animal advocates when I say that Star will die if she stays at ACC. She needs to get to a proper medical facility now. This dog is a hero who was merely attempting to defend her fallen owner. She watched her beloved owner being kicked and prodded by a police man. Her behavior was completely understandable. She never attacked. She was warning in the ways that dogs warn: posture and barking. She did not deserve a bullet. And she does not deserve to possibly be without thorough medical care.”

“I have spent hours, and hours, contacting rescues, police, ASPCA and HSUS, as have many others as we are all looking for Star, attempting to get Star into the right medical hands versus being in the hands of politics and hidden agendas.” Sabbeth told the Examiner, “I feel as though I am wading through a strategy of smoke and mirrors mobilized by ACC with an End Game that is at Star’s expense. I don’t want Star to be another martyr as was the dog, Lennox, in Belfast, Ireland.”

More Star supporters and animal rescues are asking the question, “Where is Star? Is she really alive, and what is her Condition?

The real question that Sabbeth suggests is “Will Star survives what appears to be hidden agenda politics more so than the bullet that is sitting in her head?”

That would explain much more than the video did, thanks SiLVa.
