I lost my best friend this weekend...

Dutch. My best friend, the best pitbull in the world, like a son to me.
Suddenly passed away on Saturday. I'm crushed and yet relieved
at how fast he went but saddened by how suddenly it happened as he was full of energy and not acting sick at all. I personally think he was trying to hide it from us. 12 great years he gave me and my family. Ive had plenty of dog's. He was one of a kind.
Signs033 R.I.P. buddy. I love you. Sick002

last picture of him taken here at the office on Friday.

RE: I lost my best friend this weekend...
My condolences Silva.I truly know how you feel I lost my sons a while back about three months apart. They were very close to me.One was old and sick and the other young about 7 years old to cancer.Closest thing I had to family. After that we agreed on no more pets (her idea).I was happy about this as I was tired of out living my pets.I was never without a dog ever.then about 4 months went by and I hear barking in the house.I said to myself it can't be! It was she went and bought a dog(puggle). Then her sister moved and we now have her dog WTF!Now I have to go through this 2 more times.Heart breaking to say the least when your pet dies.At least you got to spend time with your son.Thats how I figure it..Good looking dog.
What kills me makes me stronger !

No favor asked no quarter given !

Your sitting in your comfort you don't believe I'm real,
You cannot buy protection from the way that I feel.

Thank you. Your condolences are appreciated. He was a good looking dog. And I know with time all is healed and I know I'll have more dogs in the future. But Dutch will always hold a special place in my heart for he was the most loving, loyal and smartest dogs Ive ever seen.
Communicating with him was like on a whole other level- almost like he knew what I said and listened to me like no other. Uncanny how much actual language he understood or seemed to anyway.

awww shit dude... sorry. It´s really crushing when that happens. Get a new buddy ASAP - it may feel like a betrayal at first, but it´s honestly the best way to get over it. I bet he´d want you to also.

I feel for you man.

I'm sorry to hear that, bro. Sad
He looked like a special friend from that pic. I've been through that numerous times myself and currently have an old one now. Well, chin up and cherish the good times you guys had.
Peace...

RE: I lost my best friend this weekend...
Thanks guys. I appreciate the kind words.
Its easy to remember the good times, just hard to deal with how quick he went. It was kind of unexpected and sudden, but at the same time, I am happy he went quickly. It just sucks. I knew this day would come eventually - everyone knows it happens, but it still sucks.

Its been even harder on my younger brother who's been living with him since I moved out of my parents house. He had gotten a lot closer to him in that time. Im just trying to be there for him at this point, he's not taking it good. Hopefully soon he'll turn it around.

Yeah Silva... Icon_sad So horribly sorry to hear about your sweet Dutch. Bet your family is missing him immensely.
I'm glad Dutch was able to experience so many great years being a part of your family. I know you've talked about him several times here in the past. Sounded like a super smart boy.

Pan is my best friend...  I only have an inkling as to how you or your brother feels.[Image: sad0120.gif]

RE: I lost my best friend this weekend...
Yeah he was smart alright. One of the smartest dogs Ive ever seen and Im not just saying that cuz he was mine as cliche as it seems. Thank you very much, April. I know you know what its like. Enjoy Pan as much as you can while you have him in your life. Great dogs are the best thing in life besides family and friends, and sometimes even friends and family will let you down. A good dog never will. I'll send them your kind words, I know they will appreciate them as much as I do.
Thanks to all those that responded. I really do appreciate the kind words. I know their is so much going on in the world and this is minor in relation to all we face but i just felt i needed to share it with you and I hope it wasnt too selfish. I just havent really felt the same since Saturday and I thought this might help me get through a little rough patch. Thank you again.

Heres a little collage of pics I put together

Silva, it is only fitting to celebrate love in whatever form it takes especially in dark times. The loss of it only reminds us to cherish the love we have from companions both four legged and two legged. Wink

I am sorry to hear that SiLVa. Pets are great members in the family, and its a sad day when they pass on. Pitbulls have an unfair reputation. I've never met one that wasn't as nice or loving as any other. It looked like Dutch was just as joyful; especially in the picture with him and the sunglasses.

Haha...your exactly right. He was one of those pitbulls that made people re-think their point of view of the breed. Some people refused to believe he was a pitbull! He was great with kids and other dogs of all sizes. He was even good with my wifes cat. The reputation Pitbulls get is horrible, and totally unjustified. His personality was so great that if I were to get another dog, I dont think I could go with any other breed. One of the best behaved, and loving breed of dogs Ive ever been in contact with.
