POP101 - Overpopulation is a Myth (Videos + PPT)

As far as birth rates go I can confirm they are on a downward trend especially in Africa. In a developed (ruled by banks and highly urbanized population) Children that were once assets (could work in the fields, maintain and expand the family farm or business) have now become liabilities (child labour laws, education fees, food expenses), and thus, have become a drain on family resources - especially since socialism alleviates that fear that an old person will end up on the street since the state always takes care of their old people.

The way I see it children are still the best investment you could make for yourself and for humanity as a whole, if you are attentive to them.

Working Women (and of course birth control) also factors in the ability for a family/community to raise a batch of children; making their focus more on career than family. The current primary targets for this agenda reside in Africa and India. It seems that, beyond simple taxation, the United Nations plan to reduce population through getting women to work.

It's garbage videos and propaganda like this that reduce the amount of subject matter for those of us in fear to worry about. I'm finding myself increasingly wearisome with this Truth Movement.

On a more serious note, however, overpopulation issues would have to address not only land mass available to humanity, but also ensuring the resources were available to sustain such numbers. Earth has the foundation to be able to adjust to meet such demands, so all that's left is the technology to feed and clothe us, among meeting other needs.

I'm all for debate but "garbage videos and propaganda" is hardly a critique. Back it up with a counter-argument tholking, if you are not too weary.

I agree that there is systemic issue in feeding the world based on distribution and efficiency and human resource allocation. With the advent of patented plants and lower nutrition foods, cash crops, biofuels, protected environmental lands, undeveloped arable land trade laws and thresholds, soil depleting farming factory farm etc.. that is an issue.

And that's just when it comes to food, the main issue in overpopulation touted by population control advocates. (Eugenicists as a label fit some but not all of these folk).

Check the older discussion on the video set to find a myriad of points you can attempt to rebuke.

Also who says there are 7 Billion people? Well UN and CIA Factbook estimates, if you trust their methodology and data. The declining birth rate comes from their figures.

The "on a more serious note" was intended to highlight the ridiculousness of my first statement. It was an editorial comment about the need for fear over the need to seek facts and truth.

Well golly I had replied before that was edited in .. I suppose I should have stayed off the trigger for another 5 minutes as it turned that post's context around 180 degrees.

But hey if anyone wants to debate (over)population I'm game, anytime.

The game so far, as far as research goes, has been for one research group to overreact to an issue, and then have another research debunk it. Then another issue arises, and that gets killed by another study. And so forth.

It's inarguable that the increase in humans on the planet has led to increased temperatures with the additional body heat, for instance, but what are the numbers specifically, and how has the planet reacted with that?

Much of science has been paid for by corporations, so there's clearly an interest in using it to generate fear. Fortunately, there will always be people studying these matters who focus less on money and more on fact.

RE: 7 Billion People: Everybody Relax!
You know what the most annoying thing about the population reaching 7 billion is? Well, we all know that The Elite wants to drop our population down to 500 million (to retain a decently sized workforce as slave labour). This makes, however, the percentage a bit messier: 6 billion was only 8.33% of the population retained, but 7 billion is like 7.142857%. It just doesn't reduce as nicely to a floating point format.

RE: 7 Billion People: Everybody Relax!
So if the scary elites want lower population, than it means everybody should do the opposite and make as many kids as possible ?
