RE: Good .onion sites?
Sure, I didn't hear of it until last week. So basically the internet is layered, what we are currently on is the top layer, which includes google, facebook, youtube, wikipedia, etc and makes up I think 7 terabytes of data. There is a hidden deep layer that can only be accessed via Tor, as far as I know, which makes up 700 terabytes of raw data, servers, formulas, hacks, codes, information, illegal porn, black market, etc. The reason why its all down there is because everything is almost completely anonymous and supposedly untracable, of course that depends though. .onion is the extension to access the different servers and hidden websites. Freaky stuff down there but its something new to explore for sure.
Thanks FTP glad you're still here!
This info got me started

Glad I'm still here too! .. and You being here makes it all the better.

But I'm still confused. Maybe name a few and provide a link.

Yes the internet is layered. A lot of the internet is not catalouged by the likes of Google. Most of the fibre optic bandwidth is allocated to larger private, government/military and educational networks (or maybe even underground as you put it) that we don't have access too via regular http protocol or even traditional interfacing like TCP/IP --

Are you saying that there is a domain extension in .onion (clever name) that caters to http sites that solely consist of bridges that gap to theses layers? Is this like IRC, FTP, P2P.. or something else like in and out roving FM transmissions branched through translation protocols like bluetooth but associated with a domain name or IP?

So yeah first I've heard of it, or maybe I have but in a different sort of way.

7 TB isn't all that much either .. are you sure you have your number right?

RE: Good .onion sites?
Thanks that means a lot lol.
For example, kpvz7ki2v5agwt35.onion if you try to connect via your regular browser, it wont load. However, try it using the tor browser and see what happens. I have no clue how to categorize it because I'm very new to it myself. My numbers aren't accurate either. I guess this video might clear things up a bit
Yup I just found out, tor is the bridge that connects between the layers

I found a much better introduction through that video:

I know exactly what it's on about now Wink Hopefully that should help FT. It's basically the "Deep Web". And this video states, that in 2003, the surface web had 167 Terbytes of data, while the deep web had 91,850 Terbytes (2003 Berkeley Study figures, so clearly these figures would have increased somewhat, at a guess).

FT, this is the area the person I spoke of deals with mainly, as far as I remember, especially as the sort of sick sites they shut down aren't usually on the "surface web".
